Canon Ixus 850 IS

As we've come to expect from Canon's Ixus family of cameras, the 850 IS is beautifully constructed. You'll keep noticing little details long after it's been unpacked.

The Canon Ixus 850 IS is a worthy addition to the Ixus family. Its enhanced resolution, glassware and features make it a mightily attractive package for casual snappers.

Canon Ixus 850 IS

A beautiful example of high technology, but we have reservations about the ultimate quality of images.

Canon IXUS 850 IS

Review of Canon IXUS 850 IS. My tests include checking image quality, shutter delay and ease of use. This camera scored very highly in my tests and is a recommended model.

Build quality ; Picture quality ; Advanced movie features ; Design and style ; Viewfinder

It's not cheap ; Red eye ; Small memory card supplied

"The Canon IXUS 850 IS is a stylish digital camera. It is top of the range in terms of build quality, picture quality and also price. Despite the fact this is not a cheap option it still offers fair value for money. It also has image stabilisation, a...

Good

Overall i love it! It was a cheap camera that did the job for facebook photos & happy party snap shots. The only downside is the photos are getting worst & worst with time. Now all my photos come out orange and red eye. Upgarde time i think, but will...

Great for the price, takes fast photos, has face recognition, battery lasts for agers (if fully charged), small & compact, easy to use options, large screen, great camcord (really high/good quality), universial data cable & easy upload process, takes a...

Quality of photos gets worst with age of camera, no flash = no focus, crap landscape or motion pictures (only good for face snap shots), have to take battery out of camera to charge, red eye function crap, have to change to auto mode to turn the flash...

Excellent

We bought this camera after testing numerous cameras of its range. Overall we find this camera easy to use & takes great pictures (for its range). Price is reasonable as well. Memory is sizeable. Battery is very durable - we went on a 12 day holiday &...

- easy to use - compact - takes great pictures - nice design - wide screen which we can view the image we want to take easily. Does not have glare like some other cameras have.

Good

THis little camera fits in small purses and takes decent photos. Good flash, but no night time settings. The silver will scratch also, so get a pouch for it. The colour is good quality, pretty true, and if your crafty you can manage some decent shots....

In the small camera range, this is a good little piece. Good for families that want happy snaps.

Still not a great photo. The limited access to manual zoom and focus really doesnt do it justice.

overall i can depend on this slick and handy digital camera, the quality of photos are fantastic and the color blending is wonderful!!!

took good pictures, pixels of canon are well enough to compare to other camera like i had before which is sony, very reliable and even the video is nice

i hate when i review those photo that already been taken or just taken because of you have to find settings that can figure out the size of photo and If your taking night shots without the flash most pictures are noisy unless you play with the manual...

A great camera, very durable and reliable. The picture and video quality always surprise me. Takes better quality pictures then a 10MP camera I own. The fact that there is no battery indication really lowers its rating though, I would have given it a 5...

Takes nice pictures. Used it many harsh environments and it almost always took reliable pictures and is it very durable. The videos come out well for a digital camera. The view finder is a nice option to have.

No battery indication is a major downfall. It keeps you guessing when the battery will run out. I keep some spare batteries to overcome this.

What a great camera - so easy to use - compact and great as a Video Camera. I'd recommend the Canon to anyone without hesitation.

I purchased the Canon Digital IXUS 75 for its wide screen and ease of use. I loved it so much that I purchased the IXUS 850 for my daughter and she's rapt.

The only thing I find frustrating is the reviewing photos - if I happen to pass one photo and wish to look at it again, I cannot find it by just going back by pressing once in reverse. I have to go through the whole lot again. Have I missed something.

For the price an outstanding camera. Easy to use, many different options, but leaving it on automatic almost always selects the best options to shoot in.

Excellent quality photos, has an optical view finder
