Canon PowerShot A300 review

Canon PowerShot A300

Excellent image quality; inexpensive; VGA movie mode; fast continuous-shooting mode; autofocus-assist lamp; uses standard AA batteries.

No optical zoom; short flash range; barrel distortion around edges of pictures; saves only JPEG files.

Budget buyers who don't need a zoom lens will get their money's worth in features and picture quality from the A300.

Sony A300 Review

The Sony A300 is one of four digital single-lens reflex cameras released by Sony in the course of 2008. The Sony A300 sits at the lower end of the range, above the entry-level A200, and below the very similar A350, more expensive prosumer A700 and the...

At the end of the day, the Sony A300 deserves to be highly recommended by us to anyone except those who consider a big optical viewfinder a must have on an SLR

Canon Powershot A300

The Canon A300 proposes to offer the entry-level solution to digital camera users new to the field. Packed with a host of features and a 3.2 mega pixel CCD sensor, this little camera produces good pictures but is flawed by some silly mistakes in its...

Macro mode to 5cm

Small screen, can’t synchronise optical and digital zooms

Overall as a starter's camera this is an okay place to start. At £200 canon offers a camera that is good on the image side of things, but let down by a few annoyances on the design side. It would be nice to have an optical zoom on this model as well as...

REVIEW—SONY A300 DSLR]

This 10 megapixel DSLR is a sub-$1000 camera in basic kit form. Construction is acceptable with plain plastic much in evidence. It comes with the Sony 18-70mm kit lens and can also be bought in a two lens kit with a 55-200mm tele zoom. The lenses are...

This camera has two stand-out features – the swivelling LCD screen and the live view function. Although the LCD is relatively small and only moves through limited angles it is wonderful for overhead and low level shooting. And this is the first DSLR...

JPEG images straight from the camera are soft. We suspect that this is not a camera fault but a lens issue. We would strongly recommend buying the body plus one of the excellent Zeiss lenses that Sony offer as an option – expensive but good

This camera will appeal to customers moving up from a compact because the live view arrangement will feel immediately familiar. But can anyone explain why holding a heavy DSLR at arm’s length makes more sense than using the optical viewfinder? We feel...

Sony DSLR-A300

A competitively-priced, feature-rich DSLR camera with a tilting LCD and live viewing.Sitting between the DSLR-A200 and DSLR-A350 models (both of which have been reviewed on this website), Sony's DSLR-A300 offers the resolution of the A200 model plus...

Sony's Quick AF Live View technology is somewhat different from the systems used by other manufacturers because it relies on a separate sensor in the viewfinder housing. Moving the slider switch on the top panel to the Live View position blocks off the...

Canon Powershot A300

We covered the 2 MP and the 5 MP digital cameras from Canon recently. Now, it's time to take up their average, i.e., a 3.2 megapixel camera, the Powershot A300. While Canon has without any doubt ruled the world of analog photography with its range of...

Canon Powershot A300

Released in March 2003, the Canon Powershot A300 replaces the entry level A200. It has a 3.2 megapixel CCD sensor and has a fixed focal lens (ie no zoom). UK Readers Buy theCanon Powershot A300 Digital Camera here The A300 has a sliding front cover...

It is a well laid out camera (although a little 'boxy' to look at) and is easy to use. Macro mode is effective, it shoots at 5cm from its subject and produces good close up images. It does have some manual settings including ISO settings, Exposure...
