The Canon PowerShot Elph 170 IS omits a lot of features that we're used to seeing in pocket cameras, but hits a price point that's decidedly affordable.

12x zoom lens. Inexpensive. Very small. Quick startup and focus. Stabilized lens. Help mode.

Low-res rear display. No Wi-Fi. Omits Canon Creative Shot. Video limited to 720p.

The IXUS range are the nearest thing to a ‘point and shoot' camera from Canon who are best known for their high end DSLR cameras used by the majority of professional photographers. This is small – fits easily in a pocket – and is very easy to use.

The photographs I have taken with the camera so far have been clear and sharp. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it if I had a chance to do it over again.

Small, easy-to-use, takes nice photos, has a handy carrying strap, and it was priced at $10 off.
