Fujifilm Finepix E510

The Fujifilm Finepix E510 is Fuji's 5 megapixel entry into the crowded entry-level digital camera market. The only difference between the Fujifilm Finepix E510 and its slightly cheaper brother, the E500,

On the downside, the Fujifilm Finepix E510 is not suitable for action photography. Focusing is good outdoors in good light and the camera is responsive enough, but it has no continuous shooting modes, it struggles to focus indoors and it takes nearly a se

Expert Review

The FinePixE510 ($349) is one of three cameras in Fuji'snew E-series of digital cameras. Here's a quick lookat the lineup and what differentiates one model fromthe next:

Great value for a 5.1MP camera with these features, Lens starts at 28mm, Generally good photo quality, Quite a few manual controls, Larger-than-average 2" LCD display, Supports add-on lenses, Very easy to use, Can be used as a webcam (Windows only)

LCD becomes useless in dim light, Images tend to be a bit soft; above average purple fringing, Poor low light focusing / no AF-assist lamp, Manual focus feature poorly-implemented; no custom white balance, Slowest shutter speed is 2 seconds, Outdated...

Digital Camera

Just like Kodak, Fujifilm is facing a painful transition from film to digital. Whereas those two film giants once duked it out amongst themselves, both now fight for survival in the much more crowded field of digital imaging. But whereas Kodak jumped...

As far as operation goes, the E510 is a shining example for almost anyone else out there. All controls are well designed, properly placed and clearly marked. There is actually a ãbackä button so that you donât have to guess. Functions are logically...

Fujifilm's 5-megapixel E510 has plenty of features, but it also has a handful of problems.

Intuitive design ; Superb wide-angle performance ; Decent set of manual controls

Poor shot-to-shot performance ; Slow flash refresh ; Multiple photo-quality problems

Fujifilm FinePix E510

Good image quality overall.Reliable 64-segment metering.Well saturated and accurate colours.Low distortion 28mm wide angle.Large 2 inch LCD screen.Panoply of shooting modes including a Program Shift mode.

Flash a bit underpowered for the telephoto aperture of the zoom.Insufficient choices for image quality.Compression a bit strong at the highest image quality.Maximum exposure of 2 seconds.

Fuji Finepix E510

Fuji Finepix E510 Review and Where to Find the Best Prices. Five megapixel, easy to use, starter camera. It does have a wide angle lens. These are few and far between on this tyep of digital camera.

Standard digital camera offers a wider angle lens than most cameras. This helps for landscape and group type shots. Also offers some advanced features. Good outdoor shots.

perfect Point and Shoot

I tried the proprietary photo management software, but I found it much easier and faster to just treat the camera like a flash drive and download pictures directly to my computer.

Exceptionally simple to use. Camera settings can be dialed in according to typical photographing situations. Big screen for viewing. Can accept standard photography lenses

Movie recording length cannot be extended, regardless of available flash memory. It seems that the movie is stored "on-board" and then dumped onto flash memory, rather than stored in "real-time". Very power hungry--be sure to keep a spare set of AAs...

Lots of bang for the buck
