Fujifilm FinePix F30 reviewed

The folks at CNET have been spending some quality time with Fujifilm's new FinePix F30 low-light 6 megapixel shooter and they're generally pleased. With a 3x o...

Finepix F30 Digital Camera

The unassuming FinePix F30 is a master at low-light photography. The sensitivity of most cameras this size usually tops out at ISO 400 or 800, but you can crank Fujifilm's proprietary sensor all the way up to ISO 3200. This gives you more options when...

Very sharp 2.5-inch LCD High ISO setting (3200)

Lacks a viewfinder No panorama mode

The sleek metal body feels very sturdy, but the plastic cover over the A/V and power ports looks like it may not survive the life of the camera. You need to open and close this cover each time you charge the battery, because that's where you connect...

Fujifilm Finepix F30 Review

The F10 was one of those rare cameras that set new standards; in this case for high sensitivity performance in a small sensor compact, thanks to its unique Super CCD sensor and processor. Nearly 18 months after its launch the F10 (and the slightly...

Fujifilm FinePix F30 review

Intro Fujifilm has spent the last couple of years getting in touch with its sensitive side by ratcheting up the usable sensitivity range of its digital compact cameras. The pinnacle of this work is the company's new FinePix F30, which includes a range...

Produces usable shots, without digital noise, even at high ISO 1,600 and ISO 3,200 sensitivity levels; aperture- and shutter-priority modes; versatile 2.5-inch LCD.

Noticeable fringing in photos; lens could be wider.

Low-light shooters will love that the Fujifilm FinePix F30's screen actually lets you see through the darkness and that its high ISOs produce usable photos with acceptable levels of noise.

Fujifilm FinePix F30

The 6.3 MegaPixel FinePix F30 is one of the first point-and-shoot consumer cameras to offer ISO speeds as high as 3200 - a setting previously reserved for advanced consumer and professional digital camera models. Higher light sensitivities allow the...

Fujifilm FinePix F30 review

Fujifilm set a trend with the Fujifilm F10: digital compact cameras with a high ISO sensitivity. The brand has gone one step further with the recently introduced Fujifilm FinePix F30 digital camera. The maximum sensitivity has been raised to ISO 3200,...

Fujifilm surprised both friend and foe when they first launched a digital compact camera with a sensitivity range up to ISO 1600. It has now gone even further with the Fujifilm FinePix F30 camera. The sensitivity range runs to ISO 3200 and thanks to...

Fujifilm Finepix F30 Review

At first glance the Fujifilm Finepix F30 is a pretty ordinary compact digital camera; 6 megapixels, 3x optical zoom lens, 2.5 inch LCD screen, all in a conventional metal and plastic body....

Fujifilm FinePix F30 Digital Camera - Full Review - The Imaging Resource!

For example.) The Fuji F30 ups the ante, however, by offering an eye-popping light sensitivity rating of up to ISO 3200 equivalent, a level not even seen on many digital SLR cameras; and as of this review, not on any competing compact digital cameras...

Amazing high-ISO performance for such a small camera, as good as any we've seen on the market ; Great range of options for shooting in low-light including both flash and flashless modes ; Excellent detail, less subject detail lost to anti-noise...

Mode dial too small and hard to read ; Skin tones oversaturated at times, tend to come out a bit too pink ; Various modes and settings are difficult to navigate through ; Playback button stubbornly refuses to return you to Capture mode ; Camera seems...

Despite some inconsistencies, the Fujifilm Finepix F30 offers the latest bold leap into high ISO shooting in a stylish compact digital camera. In most cases I wouldn't recommend shooting at ISO 3200, but that setting functions as well as it does on the...

Fuji FinePix F30

Other new features on the F30 include an improved LCD, manual controls (finally), a new flash metering system, and even better battery life. I'll touch on other minor changes in the review itself

Very good photo quality (though see issues below) ; Amazing high ISO performance ; Fairly compact body, well put together for the most part ; Large 2.5" LCD is visible in bright outdoor light and dimly lit rooms ; AF-assist lamp; good low light...

Above average purple fringing; colors could be more saturated in some photos ; No optical viewfinder ; Plastic tripod mount and somewhat flimsy door over battery/memory card compartment ; Unimpressive continuous shooting mode ; Tiny amount of built-in...

As you probably gathered, I really like the Fuji FinePix F30. It offers low light performance that approaches (but doesn't match) digital SLRs, and it's pretty good at the other stuff too. The F30 is absolutely worth a look -- I highly recommend it.
