Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR

The Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR is a big camera with an impressive 42x zoom lens and plenty of controls, but its images don't hold up in low light.

Manual 42x zoom lens. Sharp images. High-quality vari-angle LCD. Sharp EVF. Lots of physical controls. Raw shooting support.

As big as an SLR. Limited continuous shooting. Images suffer at higher ISO settings. Nonstandard mic input.

Performance and Conclusions The HS50EXR starts and grabs a shot in about 1.5 seconds. Its shutter lag is an acceptable 0.2-second, and it can fire off a burst of 7 JPG photos at just under 8 frames per second. If you opt to shoot Raw or Raw+JPG the...

Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR review

The Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR is much more than a large point-and-shoot with a long lens.

The Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR has a nice 42x manual zoom lens; fast performance; very good picture quality for its class; a lot of shooting options, including manual and semimanual modes and raw capture; and excellent hardware features.

Its manual zoom isn't great for zooming while capturing movies; it's large and heavy; for those uninitiated with Fujifilm's EXR sensors, getting the best results can require a little extra effort.

The Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR's features and performance are well beyond those of your average point-and-shoot megazoom, making it a fine choice for enthusiasts and as a family camera.

Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR

The Fuji FinePix HS50 EXR is a versatile dSLR alternative that allows you to carry just this camera, no extra lenses required. Fuji's EXR II system is very powerful and delivers bold images with a slightly high level of image noise. Read more in our...

EXR Auto shooting mode provides bold and eye-catching images ; Dedicated Video Capture Button is always ready to record ; Non-EXR shooting modes provide less image noise ; Lens-Shift image stabilization is very helpful ; 3.0-inch adjustable LCD screen...

Higher than normal image noise in most images. Especially when shooting in EXR Auto ; Manual lens does not zoom smoothly ; Burst shooting rates only last for a few images

Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR Review

The Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR is a new bridge super-zoom digital compact camera. Looking and handling like a DSLR, the Fujifilm HS50EXR boasts a 42x zoom lens which covers a 35mm equivalent focal range of 24-1000mm and features mechanical image...

The Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR improves on its already very capable predecessor in a number of key ways, principally incorporating even faster auto-focusing, continuous shooting and processing times, a more adaptable and higher-resolution vari-angle LCD...

Fujifilm extends focal range, scales back physical controls. Will the enthusiast base appreciate the changes?

Most of them are pushing the limits with preposterous zoom ranges, including the attention-grabbing Canon SX50 HS ; big numbers always look great on spec sheets. A select few, like the Panasonic FZ200 , are banking on more subtle enhancements like...

Fujifilm HS50 EXR

A great 42x zoom bridge camera with DSLR-style handling

Good viewfinder ; Pleasing handling ; Impressive focus performance ; Host of physical controls

Slightly laggy menu system ; Some metering issues ; Video quality not the best

One final element of the design that’s pleasing is a bright and well-positioned indicator lamp. The lamp sits on the rear of the camera and gives a clear view when the model’s ploughing through data in continuous shooting.

Fuji FinePix HS50 EXR review

Huge zoom range and 'world's fastest autofocus'

Good OIS performance ; Articulated screen ; Shoots in raw format

Small sensor ; Image smoothing ; No touchscreen

The manual zoom ring gives the HS50 the quality feel of a DSLR, and the image stabilisation is very effective. It doesn't have the longest zoom range, though, and you don't get Wi-Fi.

Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR

Big zoom cameras are on a headstrong charge to cram as versatile a zoom range as possible into the latest models, as the Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR's 24-1000mm equivalent zoom is more than testament to. The Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR represents a definite...

Performance improvements compared to predecessor, no longer "freezes" when acquiring longer focal lengths, manual zoom/focus rings, decent image quality, raw capture option, optical image stabilisation, close-up macro mode, focus-type switch on body,...

Not best image quality in class, overexposure can still be an issue, feels a little plasticky compared to some other competitors, price rise makes it among the priciest superzooms

The Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR represents a definite step forward for the series, at times pushing towards a giant leap. The positives are clear: there's a more responsive autofocus system than before that's now always engaged even at the longest of...

Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR Review - Tech2

The FinePix HS50EXR is Fujifilm's latest offering in the super zoom segment, which replaces the HS30EXR. Mind you, it's not a cosmetic upgrade along with higher zoom and a few other improvements over its predecessor. Although it's difficult to...

The Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR is priced at an MRP of Rs 32,999, but you can buy it online for around Rs 1,000 less. Considering what you get and the kind of performance this camera offers, we feel it’s a bit overpriced. It would have been an attractive...
