Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd Digital Camera

This lightweight model has a zoom lens that plays well at both wide-angle and telephoto extremes.

18x zoom lens with image stabilization ; Auto face-detection and red-eye removal

Images could be sharper ; Slow startup time

The Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd is a good all-rounder at a reasonable price. It offers plenty of automated assistance, but lets you tweak settings manually when necessary. It makes a good choice for anyone seeking a single camera for all occasions

Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd

The Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd offers a host of advanced features at an affordable $400 price, but its biggest strength is the versatile 18X zoom lens. It covers a 35mm film camera's range--specifically, the equivalent of 27mm to 486mm--providing true...

Fuji FinePix s8100fd

The S8100fd's price is in line with that of other superzoom models, but its image quality and features come up a bit short.

Reasonably priced. 18X zoom. Wide-angle lens. Super Macro mode.

Autofocus is slow, especially at maximum zoom. Flash shots are overexposed. Dual image stabilization creates blurry images. Noise is apparent in images above ISO 400.

Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd Review

So what else do you get for that almost pocket-money price? To avoid the tell-tale signs of camera shake and external hand wobble, the solidly built S8100fd features CCD-shift image stabilization for claimed blur free photography, plus light...

The Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd sets itself up as a jack-of-all-trades device for a very reasonable price. On that claim it very nearly succeeds though it's not perfect. White balance is variable, there's some softness at maximum wide-angle and maximum...

Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd Review

We've been on an ultrazoom kick lately at DCR, having hit just about everyone's latest model in rapid succession over the last month. Not to be left out of the mix is the continuation of Fujifilm's 18x zoom wonder, the Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd .

Shooting speed and responsiveness generally excellent, Consistent auto focus across the lens range, Reasonably flexible auto white balance, Huge zoom range; fast apertures throughout

Slow flash recycle times, Continuous shooting speed not impressive, High-contrast shots can look compressed, Some lens faults to watch out for

Fujifilm Finepix S8100fd

The Fujifilm Finepix S8100fd (announced 24 January 2008) is a 10 megapixel camera with integrated 18x wide angle optical zoom lens (27mm-486mm equivalent). The Finepix S8100fd also features dual image stabilization, 2.5 inch wide screen LCD,...

Like the FinePix S8000fd, the FinePix S8100fd features Fujifilm's Dual Image Stabilization, a marriage of mechanical sensor shift stabilization, to steady the photographer's hand, with Fujifilm's Picture Stabilization Technology, which uses fast...

18x zoom, image stabilisation, fast shutter speed

Some noise issues, colours a little too vivid

A solid advanced ultra-zoom camera, FujiFilm's FinePix S8100fd offers an 18x zoom lens with sensor shift stabilisation and captures good but not outstanding photographs.

Fujifilm Finepix S8100fd

The Fujifilm Finepix S8100fd offers a massive 18x zoom in a fairly compact body. How does it fare in the field?

Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd digital camera

The S8100fd features an 18x optical zoom, falling squarely into the super zoom category. But will this cover all your digital photography needs? We get snapping to find out. At this price point the feel the dial quality could have been better and the F...

Plenty of features, more advanced shooting options, live histogram

Dial feels cheap, controls too widely spread around, colour a bit dull, no dedicated playback, no memory card supplied

At this price point the feel the dial quality could have been better and the F button is in a stupid place, but that’s not a deterrent to buying the camera. It is something of a hybrid, providing at one end some technical options and at the other,...
