FujiFilm FinePix S9000/9500 reviewed

TrustedReviews just posted a glowing review of the Fujifilm FinePix S9000, aka S9500 in Europe and Asia. They give the 9 megapixel digicam with 10.7x optical zoom fixed-lens and RAW image support 10/10 for features, image quality, and value. They...

Fuji FinePix S9000

The S9000 is a very good superzoom, but can't quite overtake our current Editors' Choice.

Excellent manual zoom ring. Lighter and smaller than our Editors' Choice, the Panasonic DMC-FZ30. Very good picture quality.

Slow burst rate. Small LCD for today's market. Expensive. Some noise because of Real Photo Technology.

Fujifilm FinePix S9000 / S9500 Review

Announced at the end of July 2005, the FinePix S9000 (S9500 in Europe and Asia) is the latest in a long line of Fujifilm 'prosumer' camera designed to bridge the gap between fixed lens compacts and interchangeable lens SLRs, and effectively the...

Excellent resolution, lots of detail Useful zoom range with real wideangle and good telephoto Excellent color rendition Very low noise up to ISO 400; ISO 800 usable Comprehensive photographic controls Fast and responsive operation Very reliable focus...

Minimum focus distance too long in normal mode, worse in high speed mode Rather pointless super macro mode Small screen Some highlight clipping problems in high contrast/very bright scenes No image stabilization Occasional focus errors at long end of...

I think - with the possible exception of the Panasonic FZ30 - it's fair to say the S9000 is the about as close any manufacturer has ever come to producing a fixed-lens camera that offers real SLR-like handling and operation. It certainly looks like a...

Finepix S9000 Digital Camera

The Fujifilm FinePix S9000 has some of the best attributes of a single-lens reflex model in an all-in-one body, but it's still a large, bulky camera that doesn't cost much less than a true SLR. It has a fixed 28mm-to-300mm lens--quite long for a...

Rugged body Long zoom

Lacks controls found on competing models

Fujifilm does not include rechargeable batteries or a charger with the S9000. Using a set of four AA disposable alkaline batteries, the camera lasted a little over an hour in our tests, good for only 282 shots; as a result it tied for last among our...

Fujifilm FinePix S9000 review

Fujifilm FinePix S9000

dSLR-like handling; solid performance; long zoom range; dual external-flash connections.

Chromatic aberration; noise-reduction artifacts at high ISOs.

The Fujifilm FinePix S9000 is one of the best EVF models at mimicking budget dSLR features, but it doesn't match the image quality.

Fujifilm FinePix S9000 Digital camera review

At the time Fujifilm proved with the FinePix F10 that it was well possible to create noise-free images above ISO 400 with compact cameras, and that it was only a matter of time until a top model with the same technique would be introduced. The Fuji...

The design of the Fujifilm FinePix S9000 is well thought-out. The buttons are in the exact right spot and carry a clear symbol. Most buttons feature a single function, which makes it well arranged and organized. It's fairly pleasant having to turn or...
