Fujifilm X-S1

The Fujifilm X-S1 is as big and as expensive as an SLR, but packs an amazing 26x zoom lens and excels at low-light shooting.

26x manual zoom lens. Excellent control layout. Sharp EVF. Hot shoe. Raw shooting support.

Expensive. Very large. Slow to start up. Slightly soft images.

Performance and Conclusions The X-S1 isn't a perfect camera, and one area in which it falls short is start-up time. It takes about 3 seconds to start up and shoot a photo, much slower than the 1.6-second mark notched by the Nikon P510. Its shutter lag...

Fujifilm X-S1 Review

When compared to the rest of the fixed-lens camera market, the Fujifilm X-S1 is simply one of the top models out there. Its large manually controlled zoom lens, fast response times, vibrant images, and extensive feature set easily place it near the top...

26x manual zoom lens ; Very good image quality in almost all situations ; Plenty of buttons for quick access to the features you need ; Mode dial saves time when picking shooting modes ; Popup flash provides excellent low-light photo quality ; Included...

Very expensive fixed-lens camera ; Camera is extremely large and heavy ; Beginning photographers may be confused by all of the options ; Menu structure doesn't seem to have a lot of organization ; Autofocus mechanism struggles to find the subject more...

Fujifilm X-S1 Review

The Fujifilm X-S1 is a new super-zoom bridge camera. Looking and handling like a DSLR, the Fujifilm X-S1 boasts a 26x zoom lens which covers a 35mm equivalent focal range of 24-624mm and has a maximum aperture of f/2.8. The lens also features...

With the new X-S1, Fujifilm have produced the ultimate super-zoom bridge compact camera, with a long list of desirable features, intuitive user interface and excellent image quality. The only real drawback is the price-tag, which puts the X-S1 up...

Fujifilm X-S1 Review

The Fuji X-S1 is the third model in the company's flagship X-series, which forgoes the company's FinePix branding. The X-series was launched with the APS-C based, prime lens-shod Fuji X100 in March 2011, and followed by the Fuji X10 with a 4x zoom lens...

The Fujifilm X-S1 goes on sale in the US market this month, priced at around US$800.

Fujifilm X-S1 Test Report

The X-S1 is Fujifilm's newest bridge camera based on the same large EXR sensor (2/3 in) used in the company's X-10 camera. The camera offers an extreme zoom lens (26x) for a (35mm equivalent) range of 24mm-624mm. An optical image stabilizer aids in...

Massive body, reliable handling ; Very nice color reproduction and high dynamic range ; Lens rings for zooming and focusing ; High resolution electronic viewfinder ; Swivel LCD

The camera uses a large sensor and EXR technology. The noise results are very good, albeit with a slightly high luminance noise level even in shots taken with ISO 100. The camera uses an intelligent filtering system to prevent color noise. You will...

Review: Fujifilm X-S1

Fujifilm hopes to marry image quality and a long lens in one camera.

Very good color and macro image quality ; Solid long-distance shooting at most ranges or far with manual focus ; High relative build quality ; Substantial control for veterans ; Fast burst shooting ; Capable built-in flash plus hot shoe ; Tilting LCD ;...

Poor autofocus performance at longest zooms ; Less than ideal low-light performance ; Price puts it in an uncomfortable middle ground ; Fujifilm menu system still somewhat dense ; Video quality is low for 1080p ; Short continuous shooting buffer ;...

Fujifilm's expansion of its X series cameras has turned almost into a tuning project: it's taking virtually every class of camera the company makes and giving it a better sensor, premium optics, and advanced control. The X-S1 applies that formula to

Fujifilm X-S1

The Fujifilm XS-1 is the highest-end extended zoom camera money, and lots of it, can buy. For those who want an all-in-one that offers a tactile experience that rivals that of DSLRs, the XS-1's 26x lens is operated manually rather than with a toggle....

Fujifilm X-S1

The Fujifilm X-S1 is a high-end bridge camera aimed at the gap between superzooms and DSLRs.

If the X-S1 is a bridge between pocket shooters and DSLRs, it's not a very sturdy one (nor is it the only way across).

Fuji X-S1

The Fuji X-S1 is an extremely versatile digital camera packed with features and built around a relatively large EXR CMOS sensor which gives low image noise for its class and top-notch dynamic-range. Its mechanical 26X optical zoom lens with...

Mechanical ultra-wide to super telephoto lens, Reliable metering, Very low distortion, Quick autofocus system, Short shutter-lag

Poor white-balance in artificial light, Poor preview coverage, Limited shutter-speed above base ISO, Off-center tripod mount, Sticky buttons
