Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS

A reasonable price, easy-to-use controls, and 12X zoom lens make this EasyShare worth a look.

Nice features for the price. Long zoom range with optical image stabilization. Manual and priority exposure modes. A large number of easily accessible controls. Compatible with Kodak EasyShare docks and software.

No custom white balance or slow-sync flash mode. Soft images. Image-processing delays after several consecutive shots.

Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS review

Some model names make no sense, but others, such as Kodak's EasyShare Z712 IS reflect specific details of the product. This Kodak is part of the company's line of superzoom cameras, hence the big Z. It includes a 7.1-megapixel sensor, so the model...

Has 12x optical zoom; optical image stabilization; manual exposure controls.

Noticeable fringing and artifacts in images; noisy images at ISO 800 and ISO 1,600

Kodak's EasyShare Z712 IS is a nice superzoom, especially for the price, though its image quality does falter at higher ISOs.

Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS Digital Camera - First Shots - The Imaging Resource!

The Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS is undoubtedly the highest-specification of the company's four new cameras announced at PMA 2007. The Kodak Z712 IS is a seven megapixel camera with a Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon-branded 36 - 432 mm equivalent 12x optical...

Other features of the Kodak Z712 include a 2.5" LCD display with a higher-than-average resolution of 230,000 pixels, plus a 115,000 pixel electronic viewfinder, a top ISO sensitivity of 1,600 (3,200 at reduced resolution), 28MB of built-in memory, an...

Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS

After I received the Z712, Kodak announced a newer model, known as the Z812 IS ($299). It's quite similar, with the notable changes being a higher resolution (8.2MP) sensor and a 720p video mode

Very good photo quality in most situations ; 12X optical zoom lens & optical image stabilization ; Considerably cheaper than the competition, without skimping on features ; Well built (for a plastic camera), easy to hold ; Large 2.5" LCD display is...

Images on the soft side, with detail loss from heavy noise reduction; some vignetting ; Low resolution LCD ; Could really use manual white balance control (as illustrated by the test photos) ; Manual focus difficult to use (lousy focus distance guide;...

All things considered, the EasyShare Z712 IS offers a lot of bang for the buck. It's not the best ultra zoom camera on the market, but it's arguably the best one for under $250. I can recommend the Z712 to just about everyone, with the exception being...

Kodak Easyshare Z712 Review

Overall, as one of the smallest cameras with a 12X optical zoom, the Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS does not perform so badly. Image quality is decent for small prints or web-use and the camera shows good handling. On the other hand, most cameras in its class...

Good corner-to-corner lens sharpness, Good exposure accuracy, Generally fast, Powerful flash, Relatively compact

High image noise starting at ISO 400, Noticeable vignetting, Overly saturated colors, Visible LCD artifacts, Poor battery life

Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS Digital Camera Review

The Kodak Z712 IS Digital Camera combines an impressive 12X optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization and 7.1 megapixels, plus face detection and manual controls - all useful features. It also has an electronic viewfinder - i would ask Kodak...

Kodak Z712 IS

For those looking to take the next step up from their compact camera, an advanced, ultra-zoom model is the logical progression. Offering bigger zoom a...

12x zoom, Speedy burst mode, Image stabilisation

Some over-sharpening issues, Colour reproduction isn't great

A solid, but not exceptional, advanced ultra-zoom camera, Kodak's Z712 IS offers a big zoom backed up by optical image stabilisation. However, its pictures aren't quite as good as some of the competing models on the market.

Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS

12x zoom and optical image stabilisation for under £180

The Z712 is a surprisingly compact and lightweight camera, measuring just 103.6 × 74.2 × 69.7 mm and weighing 300g, which is smaller and lighter than any of its immediate competitors. It has a plastic body, but it is very solidly put together, with no...
