Leica TL2

The Leica TL2 backs up its premium design and price with modern tech. It's a solid camera for the fashion-forward photographer.

Stunning industrial design. Modern 24MP image sensor. 4K video capture. Mechanical and electronic shutter. 7.1 and 20fps burst shooting. Big touch screen and dual control dials. USB-C charging option. 32GB internal memory and SD slot. Wi-Fi.

Omits built-in EVF and flash. Can't manually select shutter mode. Video frame rates locked in. Must buy accessory lugs to use third-party straps. Limited lens selection.

I wasn't a huge fan of the original Leica TL. Like the TL2, its design turned heads, but it lacked the performance to back it up. Its focus speed lagged behind entry-level models and its initial firmware included some head-scratching interface quirks....

Leica TL2 first impressions

With its M-series rangefinders, Leica makes cameras that are traditional almost to the point of anachronism, the TL series is pretty radical. Richard Butler spent time with this smartphone-like camera and has some first impressions to share.

Leica TL2 Review

The Leica TL2 is a swish looking, slick-operating camera – once you’ve got used to the paucity of physical controls and that finger swipes will get you where you want to be faster than camera buttons or dials. But, given that it bears the Leica...

Leica TL2 Review

The Leica TL launched as a mirrorless camera with a sleek minimalist, but functional, design. The Leica TL2 maintains that same design philosophy but includes many improvements over its predecessor, including a higher-megapixel sensor, more powerful...

Leica TL2

Andy Westlake takes a look at the latest update to Leica's stylish APS-C mirrorless camera line

Beautiful, tactile design ; Superb touchscreen interface ; Excellent raw image quality ; 32GB memory built-in

No built-in electronic viewfinder ; Uninspiring JPEG output ; No image stabilisation in either the body or lens ; Doesn’t work so well in low light

In use the TL2 is mostly pretty nimble. It turns on in a fraction of a second, and reacts near-instantly to the shutter button being depressed. The touchscreen is generally very responsive, although it can sometimes be oddly reluctant to respond to...

Leica TL2 review

Meet the compact system cam that feels like a smartphone...

Incredible build quality ; The best camera touchscreen system around ; Very fast autofocus and menus

Your wallet has gone into hiding ; JPEG colour saturation feels a little muted ; No built-in viewfinder ; Screen doesn't move or tilt

A stunning combination of CSC performance and smartphone controls, but it's one for the heart rather than the head

Leica TL2 review

A Leica for the smartphone generation

Stunning touchscreen ; Excellent raw image quality ; Premium finish

High price ; Poor battery life ; No IS for still images ; No built-in EVF

The Leica TL2 is certainly not without its charms. It's beautifully made, the large and bright touchscreen is one of the best we've used on a camera, and images from the 24.3MP APS-C sensor are very good (provided you shoot in raw). However, it just...

Leica TL2 Review

We review the uniquely styled Leica TL2, with aluminium body, 24mp sensor, and 4K video recording.

The price of the Leica TL2 is quite high, as the majority of the competition features a built-in electronic viewfinder. Although you do generally have to pay more for Leica cameras. When the Leica T first came out, in 2014 , it was quite a departure...
