Nikon Coolpix 880

Compact and easy to handle, and has more controls than the Space Shuttle.

The Coolpix 880 is a good choice for professionals and serious amateurs who understand the fine points of photography and want the maximum possible control over camera settings.

Nikon Coolpix 880 2048X1536 3.34MP 8MB Camera Review - PCWorld

Its small size, impressive images, and surfeit of controls make the Coolpix 880 a good choice for professionals and serious amateurs who understand the fine points of photography.

Nikon Coolpix 880 Review

This time last year Nikon were readying the Nikon Coolpix 800, a quick progression from the Coolpix 700, which in turn had taken the guts of the 950, made the body smaller, removed the swivel and added a fixed (in the case of the 700) and a 2x zoom...

Excellent image quality, class leading at this size Good colour balance, good white balance A baby 990 without losing any flexibility New menu layout more logical Excellent manual controls: focus, exposure, white balance Control over internal...

Limited aperture options: just two apertures Some chromatic aberrations (although less than the 990) Barrel distortion at wide angle Low light / long exposure noise Red channel noise Startup time a little slow Very noisy focus / lens extension No flash...

Nikon Coolpix 880

The Coolpix 880 is Nikon's most compact 3-megapixel digital camera. It shares the same high resolution CCD imager and processing hardware as the Coolpix 990 along with many of its advanced features like sophisticated multi-zone autofocusing, 4-mode TTL...

Nikon CoolPix 880 Digital Camera Review: Intro and Highlights

Nikon has long been a leader in the consumer digicam market, developing an exceptionally strong following ever since they introduced their original Coolpix 900 over two years ago. From the start, Nikon's digital cameras have reflected Nikon's heritage...

Coolpix 880 Review

My bottom line may be surprising to some of you: if you can live with the bad battery choice and missing flash features, the Coolpix 880 is actually a better handling camera than the 990, and in my tests, produces ever-so-slightly better results.

You lose just a bit of reach (and lens speed) at the telephoto end. The 990 zooms to 24mm (115mm equivalent for you 35mm users), while the 880 only makes it to 20mm (95mm equivalent)., The aperture drops to f/4.2 at the telephoto end instead of f/4 on...

theVooner.com Review - Nikon Coolpix 880 Review

theVooner reviews the Nikon Coolpix 880 digital camera

In the end, the Nikon 880 is simply an outstanding digital camera that should last me at least two more generations of digital photography. The only thing that bugged me was that I had to dish out extra money for the rechargeable battery, which in my...

Nikon Coolpix 880 Review

For many, the Coolpix 880 is a darn good starter digital camera ; Excellent Color Rendition.. I've seen digital cameras that require lots of fiddling in Photoshop to get the color balance correct. The Nikon Coolpix cameras, while not providing the most...

Batteries. Bad choice probably dictated by someone trying to make the camera body as small as possible. If you're serious about this camera, buy two or more of the rechargeable Lion batteries and the AC Adapter (you're not going to like where the AC...

Coolpix 880

What's in the Box

Every manual control you can think of ; Uncompressed TIFF mode ; Well-designed controls and menus ; Great playback mode ; Excellent macro shots ; USB support

Rechargeable batteries add another $100 to cost of camera ; No sound in movies ; No CompactFlash Type II

So as you can hopefully see now, the Coolpix 880 isn't much of a "baby brother" at all to the Coolpix 990 -- it's almost a twin. The major differences are: the lens, slower processing and less buffer memory, and no support for external flashes. The...
