FE-120 Digital Camera

You might assume that a budget camera like the $230 (as of 2/6/06) Olympus FE-120 takes subpar photos. But you'd be wrong: In our tests this 6-megapixel unit delivered very attractive photos, earning top points from our jury of reviewers, who were...

Lacks manual focus Starup is slow, around 4.5 seconds

Though all of these issues are fairly small, in the end this camera will appeal mostly to people who are happy with automatic modes. Experienced photographers would likely find the lack of manual controls frustrating

Olympus FE-120 camera

In the end, the Olympus FE-120 will appeal mostly to people who are happy with automatic modes. Experienced photographers would likely find the lack of manual controls frustrating.

Inexpensive; accurate color and exposure; light, slim body; comfortable to operate

Images a little soft; small, low-resolution LCD screen; no manual controls; no video out for TV viewing

The FE-120’s case resembles a bar of soap, with rounded edges and recessed buttons. At just over 1.4 inches thick, it’s slim enough to fit into a coat pocket or handbag, and at just over 5 ounces, it won't weigh you down. Its 3X zoom lens telescopes...

Olympus FE-120 review

What price is a 6Mp camera?

Very natural colour rendition

Feels cheap and plasticky ; Images have unwanted noise

Fairly simple to use, the FE-120 is let down by its cheap feel and rather dated design and looks

Olympus FE-120

The Olympus FE-120 offers decent 6-megapixel picture quality and a capable burst mode, but its lack of manual controls makes it strictly a snapshooter's mainstay.

Solid image quality ; Robust burst mode ; Simple operation ; Bounty of scene modes

No manual controls ; Slow autofocus ; Long shutter lag ; LCD difficult to view in bright light ; Motion-picture clips limited to 320x240

Colours were neutral, with only average saturation; the ability to add in-camera saturation would have been useful. We noticed a blue/cyan colour cast in outdoor pictures, and results under indoor illumination were a tad warm, whether we used automatic...

Olympus FE-120 Review. This is a fairly typical point and shoot digital camera. It comes in at the lower end of the digital camera price spectrum. With ease of use as well it is likely to appeal to anyone who is looking for something simple and...

Six megapixels ; Ease of use ; Low price

Picture quality ; Shutter lag ; Battery hungry

"Even when taking its price and target market into account the Olympus FE-120 proves to be a disappointment. Although this is a six megapixel model the picture quality disappoints. This is balanced to a degree by real ease of use, but overall I cannot...
