Olympus SP-510UZ Review

It looks like a candidate for a blister pack in Wal-Mart, rather than resting on a velvet cloth display at your local camera store

The seven megapixel Olympus SP-510UZ

Olympus just dropped a new 7.1 megapixel member of the Ultra Zoom family on us, and this is one shooter that thrives at night. Although it's got a fairly impressive maximum ISO of 1600 and a very impressive 10x optical zoom at full resolution, the real...

Olympus SP-510 UZ

Olympus Superzoom offers a guiding hand. . .but it could use a little assistance of its own.

Great guide modes help you select appropriate settings and modes. Very good macro mode. Can shoot in RAW. Conveniently uses AA batteries.

Mediocre performance. Poor burst mode. Special xD cards required for highest video performance. A bit of shutter lag is noticeable.

Olympus SP-510 UZ review

I remember a time when Olympus was well known for its well-featured, superzoom cameras. When the company changed its naming conventions recently, its crop of superzooms was cut to only the 6-megapixel SP-500UZ, which has now been joined by the...

Great body design; high-quality, fast lens; manual exposure controls.

No optical image stabilization; high noise at ISO 400 and above; lens not wide enough.

The Olympus SP-510UZ is packed with cool features, but a not-so-wide lens, sluggish performance, and noisy images steal its fire.

Olympus SP-510 UltraZoom Digital Camera - Express Review

There was a time when Olympus had the longest ultra zoomers in town, but that's all changed as more and more competing manufacturers have jumped into the ring with their own all-in-one cameras with extra long focal ranges. While you'd think these...

Sleek, silvery design is futuristic but functional., Comfortable handgrip, Great color, good dynamic range, and decent sharpness in images shot in adequately lit conditions

Excessive noise in images shot above ISO 400, Inadequate resolution for 2.5-inch LCD, Sluggish overall performance and during picture-taking and general operations, Outdated menu system, No paper manual for advanced instruction, only CD, Only digital...

The latest camera in Olympus' ultra-zoom arsenal is the 7.1 megapixel Olympus SP-510 UZ. The Olympus SP-510 features a 10x optical zoom lens that's equivalent to 38-380mm in 35mm format. The Olympus SP-510 features the company's BrightCapture...

7.1-megapixel camera with 10X optical zoom

Camera Review: Olympus SP-510UZ

The Olympus SP-510UZ is a 7.1 Megapixel EVF (Electronic ViewFinder) camera that has some big-time features typically found in much more expensive DSLR's, but with a street price of only $342. The real surprises for an EVF at this price is that it...

Olympus SP-510 UZ Review

The Olympus SP-510 UZ may be the top ultra-zoom digital camera from Olympus, but its performance is far behind its top competitors. Image quality of the SP-510 is actually pretty good. Images are well exposed, show good color and corner-to-corner...
