Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 review

DPReview takes a look at the 5 megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 (a replacement of the FZ10), with it's 12x optical super-zoom, improved image-stabilization system, and Panasonic's proprietary Venus II system, which is equivalent to shooting up to 4...

Leica 12X optical zoom lens with constant f/2.8 aperture and image stabilization. Very comfortable, SLR-like feel. Powerful feature set. Lots of control over exposure.

Large and heavy for a superzoom. Poor video mode.

The 5MP Panasonic DMC-FZ20 isn't perfect, but if we could only take one camera with us on vacation, this would be high on our list. With its impressive lens and other capabilities, there are few scenes it couldn't handle with aplomb.

Panasonic DMC-FZ20

Sitting at the top of Panasonic's deservedly popular super zoom range, the FZ20 gets as close to the handling, versatility and quality of a digital SLR as any compact yet; offering superb, responsive handling, masses of control, a stunning 12x F2.

One of the bestultra zoom cameras in the last year was the PanasonicLumix DMC-FZ10. It featured an F2.8, 12X opticalzoom with image stabilization, a 4 Megapixel CCD,manual controls, a hot shoe, and more.

Very good photo quality (though a bit noisy), F2.8, 12X optical zoom lens, Image stabilization system, Very little purple fringing; unusual for an ultra zoom camera, Full manual controls including ability to fine-tune white balance, AF-assist lamp,...

If you love supertelephoto photography, this Panasonic looks like the camera to beat.
