Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3

S previous Editors' Choice budget superzoom was the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7, which has a 12X optical zoom lens and, at less than $400, is still a good buy. One thing that camera lacked, however, was a true wide-angle view. I'm glad to say that the...

Nice 28mm wide-angle lens. Very compact. Big 3-inch LCD. Unique modes, like Intelligent ISO mode.

No true manual features. No RAW options. Can't change amount of flash.

When looking for a superzoom, don't settle for less. Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FZ7 has a powerful zoom lens with a nice wide viewing angle, too. If you're still not convinced, the Lumix is stylishly compact, takes awesome pictures, and is affordable to boot.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 review

The DMC-TZ3 looks almost identical to the DMC-TZ1, sharing its predecessor's chunky 9-ounce frame, its prominent lens, the tasteful gold-and-silver Leica accent, and a straightforward, minimalist control scheme. I readily accessed the camera's buttons...

Wide, powerful lens with little distortion; quick performance.

No manual exposure controls; tiny buttons; no stop-motion movie mode.

Though it leaves out one fun, little shooting mode, the Panasonic DMC-TZ3 improves upon its predecessor in nearly every way.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 Review

Panasonic - the company that is more than any other responsible for the renaissance and continuing success of the 'big zoom' bridge camera - launched the original 'Travel Zoom' TZ1 back in February 2006. The formula - a big zoom on a small camera -...

Uniquely versatile compact with 28-280mm equiv. lens Excellent resolution, surprisingly sharp lens Unusually versatile aspect ratio options High quality construction for the price Little (if any) color fringing Very low distortion Good shot-to-shot...

Heavy noise reduction - make ISO 400+ usable only for small prints NR smoothing/smearing of fine detail and texture even at ISO 100 (and fairly strong at ISO 200) Mild vignetting at widest zoom setting / maximum aperture No manual control of shutter...

I really liked the TZ1 - as a concept and as a camera to use - and I would have been able to give it a much more wholehearted recommendation had the image quality issues and shutter lag not let it down so badly. The TZ3 is a camera I wanted to like...

Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ3 Review

Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ3 review

The successor of the Lumix TZ1, the Panasonic Lumix TZ3, was introduced in January of the year 2007. Did the TZ1 impress us with its compact size and onboard 10x Leica zoom lens; the Panasonic TZ3 even exceeds its predecessor. Resolution went up to 7...

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 is already the third camera on line in the Traveler Zoom series. And one must admit that Panasonic made it an ideal combination. Sufficiently compact for carrying with you at all times, equipped with a large optical range...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 Review

The new Panasonic DMC-TZ3 camera is a significant update of last year's popular TZ1 model. The most significant change has been made to the Leica lens. It still offers 10x focal length in a compact body, but instead of starting at 35mm, the Panasonic...

One year on from the original DMC-TZ1, and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 is still a very distinctive camera in an even more crowded market-place, thanks to its combination of a 10x ultra-zoom lens and relatively compact dimensions. Using such a small...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 Digital Camera - Full Review

With beauty from almost all angles, the most beautiful quality of the Panasonic TZ3 is the quality of its lens, and thus its images. We found the TZ3's controls to be a little less impressive, at least in terms of their look and feel; the good news is...

The worthy successor to the Panasonic DMC-TZ1, the 7.2 megapixel DMC-TZ3, offers many of the TZ1's benefits including a 10x Leica-branded optical zoom lens and Panasonic's signature Optical Image Stabilization (MEGA O.I.S.). But the TZ3's 10x optical...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 Review and Prices

At first glance, you might notice the shortcomings of Panasonic's Lumix DMC-TZ3. It is thin at about 1.5 inches, but it's not ultra-thin and it won't fit in every pocket. It offers a high resolution, but it lags behind some others. Its image quality is...

Wide-angle and long zoom capabilities in one lens, easy to use model, IS feature works well, LCD is large and bright

No viewfinder beyond LCD, low-light photos can be noisy, no manual-control features, extremely large prints can be soft
