Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ review

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ

Optical image stabilization; solid image quality; versatile burst modes; simple operation.

Few manual settings; low-res movie mode.

Image stabilization, a 6X zoom lens, and solid image quality make the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2K a versatile snapshot camera.

Panasonic DMC-LZ2

The Panasonic LZ2 promises a lot for under $300, and in the most part it doesn't disappoint.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2 Review

Announced just in time for PMA (February 2005), the Lumix DMC-LZ2 (and the 4 megapixel LZ1 launched simultaneously) is a major upgrade to the DMC-LC80 that doubles the lens reach (now a 6x optical) and throws in Panasonic's proven Mega Optical Image...

Very good resolution Sharp images with good color (though see below) Effective Image stabilization 6x optical zoom lens Easy to use Good handling and decent construction Fast operation for a budget camera Good burst performance Good white balance in...

Flash recycle time (and blacking out of LCD during recycle) Red eye Low dynamic range (inherent problem of small 5MP chips) No AF illuminator (camera struggles to focus in very low light) Noise - and noise reduction - an issue at ISO 100+, real problem...

The Panasonic LZ2 promises a lot for under $300, and in the most part it doesn't disappoint. For one thing offers a longer zoom range than just about every other major-brand 5MP camera in its price range, and that's before you throw in the undeniably...

Physical Views The DMC-LZ2 compared in size to a standard CD disc. The 5-megapixel LZ2 and the 4-megapixel LZ1 . Besides resolution, the difference is the LZ2 can record audio, the LZ1 cannot. Continue to Features & Controls Lumix DMC-LZ2...

Digital Cameras - Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2 Digital Camera Review, Information, Specifications

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2 is a pretty unique digital camera, there really isn't anything else like it on the market from any of the other manufacturers. It packs a 6x zoom lens into a surprisingly compact body, and throws in Panasonic's excellent...

Nice long (6x) zoom lens, Optical stabilization helps greatly for hand holding the camera in dim lighting, Despite oversaturation of bright colors, skin tones look good, Very good battery life, Accurate LCD viewfinder, Fairly fast startup/shutdown,...

High contrast, has trouble with harsh lighting, Bright colors are rather oversaturated, Images a little soft for a five-megapixel camera, High image noise at ISO 400, High barrel distortion at wide angle, soft corners in images at telephoto, Flash has...

Fairly quick on the draw thanks to a smoothly operating retractable lens design, the Panasonic DMC-LZ2 is a convenient point-and-shoot digital camera with a handful of extra exposure features for further flexibility, plus the added bonus of an...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ1/LZ2

With that in mind, this review will be a little different than most. I will be reviewing two cameras in one review, using the LZ2 as the "model" in the product photos. I will offer sample photos and some test shots from both cameras

Good quality, sharp photos (but see issues below) ; 6X optical zoom lens in a midsize body ; Optical image stabilization system ; Excellent performance ; Good continuous shooting mode ; Great battery life ; Histograms in record and playback mode

Images a little too sharp, leading to "jaggies"; some vignetting ; Redeye ; LCD doesn't "gain up" in low light ; No optical viewfinder ; Poor low light focusing; no AF-assist lamp ; Paltry 14MB of internal memory doesn't hold many photos at highest...

I like the concept of the DMC-LZ1 and DMC-LZ2 a lot. I just wish the execution was a little better (the LZ3 and LZ4, maybe?). The two cameras earn my recommendation, but mostly for outdoor shooting. Those taking indoor and low light shots will likely...

An average camera that produces some nice shots, but is marred by minor problems.

Great colour, unlimited continuous shot, 6X zoom

Irritating load times, bad image writing lag outdoors, ordinary build

PanasonicLumix DMCLZ2

This camera may be weighty but it sets itself apart with a 6x zoom ' equivalent to a 222mm telephoto on a film camera

Whopping 6x optical zoom. First rate picture quality. Runs on AAs so easy to get emergency power.

Piddling 85,000 pixel LCD. Not the slimmest or lightest on the market.

This camera may be weighty but it sets itself apart with a 6x zoom – equivalent to a 222mm telephoto on a film camera

At 178g, this is a heavy weight: it’s not a slip in your handbag on a Friday night number.
