Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1

With the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1, you get 8x optical zoom that fits comfortably in your pocket.

Extremely fast performance. 25mm wide-angle lens with powerful 8x zoom. Terrific user interface. 720p30 HD video capture. Optical zoom enabled while recording video.

Images are soft around the edges. LCD shows significant motion blur. Zooming is slow during video recording. Proprietary USB port.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1 review

It's always nice when a camera fulfills its promise. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1's unassuming outer shell doesn't stray from the company's other compact megazoom cameras, but what's inside does with a re-engineered autofocus system, an ultracompact,...

Simple to use; nice design; excellent performance, photo quality.

No AV output cable included; no shutter speed, aperture controls.

With a wide-angle, megazoom lens, a quick AF system, and generally high-quality snapshot photos, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1 is a standout compact megazoom.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1

The 12-megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1 ($280 as of 9/15/2009) was a largely unnoticed guest at the fall camera announcement party, thanks to its great but not mind-blowing specs. This isn't a camera that tries to outdo anything in stores today, but...

Practically silent 8x optical zoom ; Very fast autofocus in video mode

No aperture- or shutter-priority modes ; USB-out is only connection option

The ZR1's very quiet, ultrawide-angle lens makes it an unassuming all-star for both stills and video.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX1 Review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX1 (also known as the DMC-ZR1) is a new ultra-compact digital camera with an astounding trick up its proverbial sleeve - the 8x optically-stabilised zoom lens that provides a focal range of 25-200mm in a body measuring just...

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX1 bridges the gap between the popular FX and TZ series cameras, offering the small size of the former combined with a similar focal range to the latter. Super-quick auto-focusing and improved image stabilisation help to...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1 Review

Panasonic has followed this design path for five years now… so I guess you could say things seem to be working for the approach.

Quality: without doubt this camera can take above average snapshots that, when downloaded, print out with great clarity and vivacity.

Review: Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1 camera

The DMC-ZR1's very quiet, ultrawide-angle lens makes it an unassuming all-star for both stills and video.

Its 8X optical zoom is on the higher end of the spectrum for a point-and-shoot, but a bit short of the 12X optical zooms we've seen from both Panasonic and Canon. Its basic specs are good: 29 scene modes, Intelligent Auto mode for no-brainer casual...

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZR1 digital camera

A tiny LUMIX camera with a huge 8x zoom

Compact body, huge zoom, relatively crisp shots, excellent focusing

Mode dial is too loose and is easily knocked out of place, wide-angle shots have some distortion

The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZR1 is a versatile camera with specifications that belie its small size. It can take photos at a maximum wide angle of 25mm, and its 8x zoom can reach up to 200mm. It's easy to use, has excellent focusing, and can take vibrant...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1

Compact body with a long 8x optical zoom. 25mm wide-angle lens. Excellent build quality.

No manual controls. Average video quality.

If you're looking for a compact zoom camera, the DMC-ZR1 is one of the best, if you can forgive some performance issues in terms of burst speed and average video quality.
