Ricoh Caplio R2 review

Ricoh enhanced their series of Caplio digital cameras with the introduction of the new Ricoh Caplio R2 in March 2005. The new Caplio R2 looks a lot like its brother, the Caplio R1, but the new model can definitely compete with the competitors of the 5...

The Ricoh Caplio R2 is very similar to the Caplio R1 digital camera. The enhanced resolution and the altered ergonomics in combination with the large sized LCD monitor, are sufficient features to be able to speak of an improved design. The housing of...

An incredible looking camera with enough battery power to go all day. For its price it is a reasonable alternative, but if taking brilliant pictures is the primary concern buyers may want to look elsewhere.

Wonderful overall design, great battery life, cheap

Poor image quality, mediocre feature set

Ricoh Caplio R2

Ricoh's Caplio R2 is an upgrade to the R1 with a 5-megapixel CCD sensor but the same 4.8x zoom lens, which is equivalent to 28-135mm in 35mm format, and the same 'pendulum' lens retracting mechanism. The physical dimensions and controls of both models...

Ricoh Caplio R2

Looks are the big selling point with this camera but its not just a pretty face. The build quality is robust and feels reassuringly expensive. Shots are sharp, well exposed and display lots of detail; colours are rich and vibrant and i

Ricoh Caplio R2

I got this DC as a gift from my father, and then I used it for five years, during which I did not change to another DC, and R2 just fulfill all my needs. The most eyes-catching feature of Caplio R2 is it wide camera. Although it can not compare with...

Excellent

Having worked in a camera store i was able to try alot of diferent brands but settled on the Ricoh. I have now had it for 3 years and its perfect still! The macro is superb and the autofocus allows clear shots every time.

Amazing wide lens zoom unique to Ricoh. Easy to use and macro setting better than any others i've tried.

OK

This is a decent camera however for the price it was a few years ago I paid too much. The features are good though and it can take a great picture. Adjustable shutter speed makes it good for the more advanced hobby photographer. Very frustrating about...

Well designed, contains many useful features, relatively easy to use. Large size view screen.

Lens can become faulty, turning off without touching. Not compatible with Vista without software download.
