Samsung L700 review: Cool as Metal

Samsung L700 is a lower midrange fella and its main selling points are solid construction, metal body and fast 3G speeds. Before you frown at the shortish specs list do remember that it's not aiming high. It's set instead to address...

Metallic body and solid construction ; Quad-band GSM support plus GPRS and EDGE ; UMTS 2100Mhz with video calls ; 2.1" display with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels ; 2 megapixel fixed focus camera with LED flash ; microSD card slot (up to 8GB) ;...

Relatively low display resolution ; Trimmed down user interface as compared to Samsung seniors ; Video recording tops out at QCIF resolution ; Poor web browser

(about 110 euro). These two are practically identical and match the L700 to the smallest detail, except for the metal casing, slightly slimmer waistline and quad-band functionality. However we must note that the M2 memory cards they use are also...

Samsung L700 Digital Camera - Express Review - The Imaging Resource!

The Samsung L700 couples a 7.2-megapixel CCD image sensor to a Samsung NV-branded 3x optical zoom lens that offers a fairly standard 35 to 105mm equivalent focal range. The Samsung L700 forgoes any form of optical viewfinder, with shots instead framed...

Affordable pricing ; Reasonable image quality for snapshot shooting ; Minimal lens distortion and good sharpness ; Compact and relatively lightweight ; Sturdy body that has a quality feel ; Auto exposure bracketing nice to have ; Manners Mode is a nice...

Too much chromatic aberration, which extends too far into the center of images ; Lens flare can be a problem ; Autofocus isn't reliable enough, particularly in low light ; LCD can be difficult to see in direct sunlight ; No manual focus / exposure...

A dedicated button on the Samsung L700's rear provides access to several common visual effects such as "Sepia" or "Negative," as well as an unusual "Focus Frame" function which is rather curiously implemented; more on that later. In movie mode, this...

Samsung L700

Samsung L700

Meet the average digicam

While it’s nowhere near as ugly as some older Samsung models, such as the Digimax V40 or V50 from 2004, the L700 lacks the visual impact of the NV range models. It is housed in a fairly plain metallic aluminium body with a brushed finish on the front,...

Samsung L700 digital camera

With Samsung's high-profile, highly advertised NV series you'd be forgiven for not realising that Samsung has a range of digital cameras that promise to offer something for everyone. The L700 is one of those digital cameras, that isn't brilliant, nor...

7 megapixels

No sound when you zoom in video mode, uninspiring design compared to other Samsung cameras

The L700 is one of those digital cameras, that isn't brilliant, nor is it shockingly bad, its just mediocre.

Samsung L700 review: Samsung L700

Samsung L700

Decent amount of controls for a budget camera; great white-balance system provides neutral colors; solid metering system.

Photos were soft overall and had too many image artifacts; strangely labeled buttons can be confusing.

It won't make perfect photos, but this camera's above-average controls and nice white balance make it a good choice for a budget shooter.
