Sony a7C review: Compact size, big sensor image quality

Sony's a7C is among the smallest full-frame mirrorless cameras you can buy, and in terms of core capability, not much has been sacrificed for the sake of compactness. It makes a great travel camera but isn't as refine as the best of its rivals.

Sony a7C Review

Full-frame sensor in APS-C sized body ; 5-axis IBIS ; Forward-facing touch LCD ; Superlative tracking autofocus ; 10fps continuous drive ; 4K video with flat and HDR looks available ; Best-in-class battery life

EVF is on the small side ; Doesn't have Sony's new menu system ; Touch functions could be more robust ; Omits front command dial and focus joystick ; 4K tops out at 30fps

The Sony a7C is a slimmed down, full-frame camera built for travel, but its small size limits its versatility, and some aspects feel a little dated.

Sony A7C Review: An ultra-portable full-frame ILC

The photography industry has changed dramatically since Sony launched the full-frame Alpha 7 series back in 2013. Over the past seven years, the general size and form factor of Sony's full frame mirrorless cameras has remained quite similar.

Sony A7C review

The Alpha A7C is the smallest and lightest lens-swapping full-frame mirrorless camera, but it packs a bigger punch than its size would suggest.

Tiny and lightweight body ; Powerful 5-axis in-body image stabilization ; Excellent battery life ; Versatile AF modes ; Flexible LCD

Small EVF ; Lacks front dial and other controls ; Single memory-card slot

Most importantly, image quality and autofocus performance are both excellent — there's a lot to like here. It's not exactly cheap, but if you're looking for full-frame performance in a compact body, the A7C should be high up your wish list.

Sony A7C review

The Sony A7C has a radically different look compared to other A7 models, but there's a lot that's very familiar inside

Small(ish) body ; Excellent retracting lens ; Side-hinged vari-angle screen ; Autofocus performance

Unambitious video specs ; Unappealing silver and black finish ; Not especially cheap

The Sony A7C's specifications are unambitious to say the least, particularly in terms of its video capabilities, but its practical performance, from its handy vari-angle screen to its excellent AF system, make it effective enough as a camera. We will...

Sony A7C review: Taking full-frame to a new level of tiny

Sony's A7C takes full-frame to a whole, tiny new level. But does it deliver as big?

Really compact size ; Fully articulating screen ; Fast autofocus and smart tracking features ; Great build quality ; Versatile video modes

Only one SD card slot ; No 4K60p ; Menu button is in a really awkward place

Sony has leveraged the popularity of its A7 series, creating a full-frame camera that seems impossibly small in the A7C. There are lots of positives here in terms of build quality and performance, but it's lacking a little in areas like bitrate and...

Sony a7C review

It's the world's smallest full-frame system camera – and there's no big catch

Superb all-round image quality ; Compact, lightweight build ; Accurate autofocus

4K limited to 30fps ; Older menu system ; Small viewfinder

Full-frame goodness from a half-pint camera

Sony A7C Review: A Travel Photographer’s Dream

A smaller A7 III with better AF and a flip-out display — what's not to like?

Small and compact ; Very good still and video quality ; Reliable autofocus ; Flip-out rear display

Limited usability of the touchscreen ; Low EVF magnification ; Kit lens bundle is a bit expensive

The body of the Sony A7C is priced exactly the same (at the time of this review) as that of the A7 III, at Rs. 1,67,990 on Sony India's website, which makes it a no-brainer to pick this camera over its older sibling. The A7C offers pretty much the same...

Sony Alpha A7C Review

We review Sony's smallest full-frame mirrorless camera, the Sony Alpha A7C, with the new and compact 28-60mm f/4-5.6 zoom lens. If you're looking for a small full-frame camera, then this could be one to consider.

In essense, the Sony Alpha A7C is very similar to the A7 III, but the smaller body has left the camera with a number of compromises, which mean we'd rather have the A7 III, with front and rear command dials, dual SD card slots, better ergonomics, and a...
