Sony Alpha 100 DSLR previewed

The first DSLR from Sony is sure getting plenty of hype, but we think we'll reserve judgement until we spy a solid review of a production unit. Until then we'll have to make do with this hands-on preview of the 10 megapixel Sony Alpha A100, and try not...

Alpha DSLR-A100K Digital Camera Kit

Sony's first digital SLR is a solid, full-featured performer.

Very good image quality, Good lens selection

Lenses are expensive, Sensor-based stabilization not optimal

The Sony DSLR-Alpha 100K is a very good but somewhat pricey camera. Despite feeling clunkier than its competitors, it delivers good image quality and a full feature set, plus some nice extras such as image stabilization

Sony Alpha DSLR-A100K digital SLR

Sony's DSLR-Alpha 100K--or Alpha 100--is a full-featured, 10.2-megapixel digital SLR with built-in shake reduction technology.

Very good image quality ; Good lens selection

Lenses are expensive ; Sensor-based stabilization not optimal

Offers features such as continuous autofocus and dust-removal, though its image stabilization lags behind lens-based systems.

Sony Alpha DSLR-A100

The Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 won't wow you with groundbreaking design, but it has potential.

Very good image quality. Sensor-based image stabilization.

Overpriced. Too noisy at high ISOs. ; Watch the Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 Video Review!

Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 review

Intro Like a mythical bird rising from the ashes of Konica Minolta, Sony's first digital SLR, named the Alpha DSLR-A100, marks the company's entry into the big leagues of digital still imaging. With a 10.2-megapixel CCD sensor, a bevy of convenience...

10.2 megapixels; in-camera image stabilization; eye-start autofocus.

ISO tops out at ISO 1,600; auto white balance is warm with tungsten light.

Sony's Alpha DSLR-A100 deserves consideration whether you're looking for an alternative to Canon and Nikon, you already own a selection of Maxxum AF lenses, or you're looking for your first digital SLR.
