Sony CD Mavica MVC-CD400

WHAT'S HOT: Huge photo capacity on relatively cheap media is the CD Mavica MVC-CD400's finest feature. Using 156MB, 3-inch CD-R or CD-RW discs, you can store up to 50 images shot at the camera's highest resolution (2272 by 1704 pixels) or nearly a...

The MVC-CD400 comes bundled with Pixela's ImageMixer software forstoring and editing photos. Given the camera's high-capacity discs, we wishSony had included a better image archiving/organizational program, such asACDSee or Canto's Cumulus

Sony Mavica MVC-CD400

The review of this camera is now complete. Photos have been re-shot where needed, and all sample photos were taken with a production-level camera

Excellent photo quality ; CD-R/RW format is excellent value ; Full manual controls ; Hot shoe for external flash ; Huge 2.5" LCD ; Great movie mode ; Hologram AF - the best AF assist system out there

No optical viewfinder ; No optical zoom in movie mode ; Poor Mac compatibility ; Concerns about durability of CD-RW drive ; Sluggish read/write times, esp. in playback mode

My conclusion about the Sony Mavica MVC-CD400 is very similar to the floppy-based cameras that I've reviewed. If you're sold on the CD-R/RW format, then the CD400 is a fabulous camera. It's got excellent photo quality, full manual controls, a very nice...

GREAT camera for the serious amateur - "old" but not obsolete!

Even though production of this camera has been discontinued, you can still find them for sale, so I wanted to add my unqualified endorsement to those already here. I purchased this camera three years ago, and in fact the model was released five years ...

Low-light capabilities ; excellent Zeiss lens ; CD storage

A bit of a lag between shots

Satisfied User (1,700+ images taken)

I researched the Sony CD400 extensively prior to purchasing. I really enjoy the CD medium and feel that it is unsurpassed on the current digital camera market. I am averaging 85 high resolution(4 mega pixel) images per CD. At $0.75 per CD you can't...

Image storage capacity. Writing time. Storage medium cost.

On camera flash, quirks w/ finalizing the cd.

Great Camera, My Wife Still Loves It

I just love this great camera from Sony. The Mavica MVC-CD400 was a great buy for me four years ago, although a 4 megapixel camera doesn't cost quite this much anymore. I spent 600 dollars for the camera at Best Buy, getting a deal because it was an...

Strong flash, crystal clear 4 MP photos, reliable, solid, fully automatic only mode required.

A little slow to boot up, TIFF's are very slow, bulkier than other digitals, expensive.
