JVC's HRXV3 is definitely one of the more basic DVD/VCR combinations on the market; however, its low price and simplistic interface would suit users who aren't interested in recording to DVD.

The last few players I had (Sony, Yamaha and Apex) froze up and skipped on me all the time. The JVC player has been working fine now for almost a year and has never frozen or skipped. I love the blue illumination and my CDs sound great.
