Samsung DVD-P421 Progressive-Scan DVD Player

Few things have dropped in price as quickly as DVD players. Less than a year ago, progressive-scan models like this one would have cost over $1,000. Now, you can find the Samsung DVD-P421 progressive-scan player for well under $200. Rather unassuming,...

Samsung DVD-P421 Progressive-Scan DVD Player

Rather unassuming, the DVD-P421 doesn't sport the flashy exterior that many new players do, save for a small strip of chrome on the drawer. Along the bottom of the front panel, you'll find a headphone jack (of the 0.25-inch variety) with a level...

Since they know how expensive coffee-table real estate is these days, Samsung has included two different-sized remotes with the DVD-P421-not bad for such an inexpensive player. The larger remote has all of the buttons you'd expect to find on a...

I'm going back to VCR

Probably OK if you know how to be a "Digital" user.

I don't know how to use it.

Samsung DVD P421

Good system, looks great with other pieces. Progressive Scan is the ONLY thing to buy. Go to Sears or Best Buy and get the great credit terms. If you spend a DOLLAR over $90 for this system you paid to much, shop around. If you need a 5 disk player, go...

Sears had the best price for a Progressive DVD player, what's not to like.

NONE. If you want full function remote get one for all your components.

Samsung DVD-P421 DVD Player

Small size, Progressive output and Component video support, TOSLink and Coax digital out.

No on-board 5.1 channel decoding, false advertising all over the box, poorly-written user manual.

Samsung P421 DVD Player - Buyer BEWARE

The P421 DVD player from Samsung offers what appear to be several outstanding features from Samsung's point of view, but the consumer should be aware that you may not be getting what you expect or what you paid for.

Small size, Progressive output and Component video support, TOSLink and Coax digital out.

No on-board 5.1 channel decoding, false advertising all over the box, poorly-written user manual.

Great Value - Great Compatibility

This is my third Samsung DVD player. I also own the S221 and the V1000 VCR/DVD combo. The reason I've chosen this brand is because I've tested numerous other brands and found that most won't play one format or another. The Samsung has no problem...

Great disc/format compatibility, progressive scan, two remotes, Headphone output

Remote layout is confusing

Not a good choice.

The Samsung DVD P421 looks great on the shelf. It's a handsome unit but, as with most things in life, looks can be deceiving. I bought mine on sale at Best Buy to replace a two-year-old Toshiba 1700, which lacked progressive scan and an optical audio...

Good picture and sound quality. Looks good on shelf.

Slow scan speed, cheap remotes with poor controls and poor response.

Great DVD player

I have always been a fan of Samsung consumer electronics. After purchasing this unit and trying several others, Samsung lives up to their name! I have recently purchased a Toshiba 34HD82 34inch color high definition television, so I needed a...

Flicker free progressive scan, stylish case, features, compatibility, and quality

none! other than it does not play DVD-ram
