Performance

Sony RDR-HX715

HDMI output; burns to DVD+R/+RW/-R/-RW discs as well as dual-layer DVD+R; 160GB hard drive; great connectivity options; snazzy menu design; free onscreen programming guide; high-speed dubbing; decent editing options.

Expensive; TV Guide electronic programming guide doesn't work in all areas; no flexible-recording mode; poorly designed remote.

Sony's RDR-HX715 boasts a mouthwatering feature package, but its steep price tag gave us pause.

Two horrible experiences is the best I can say about this product.

Fairly easy setup.

Horrible product. Obviously not made to last. Gave me a new outlook on Sony.

I paid $625 for this?

If there is one thing the Sony RDR-HX715 DVD Recorder doesn't to properly it is recording DVDs! I bought it this week and transferred about 10 DV tapes and VHS tapes to the hard drive. Picture looks really nice. I edited them, created chapters, looked ...

Picture quality is very good. Component input for regular TV. I could return it.

Chapter marks, thumbnails DONT write to DVDs. Ridiculous! Bad editing features, confusing menus, VERY expensive.
