not bad

I like this even with the cons. Reading is a joy.

Very nice reading experience. Nice size. Nice screen. Great battery life. Text is beautiful. 3 ways to turn the page.

Slow. Clunky. Non intuitive.

Missing a button

I sure am glad this was not a gift, as it would have been incredibly embarrassing.

I won't know until I get a replacement in 2+ weeks with the RMA.

Out of the box it was missing a button. The #4 button was missing and not in the bag with the e-reader. How does something like that make it through quality control?

LOVING IT

Absolutely love this ebook reader. It's my first ereader, and I might as well be holding a book when I read. I love the size, page-turning feature, and ability to load hundreds of books into it using the memory card. I highly recommend this ebook...

Internal memory is not that big, but you can add up to 32gb SD card!

E-Book Reader

Having another brand and seeing the difference in quality and the similarity in price makes deciding between the two difficult only because of the SD slot that allows unlimited storage using multiple SD cards. This feature available on Aluratek but not...

Inexpensive, Lightweight, SD Card slot, 8 Gigs with machine can upgrade to 32 Gigs. No reason why you can't have multiple SD cards and swap them out as needed. Easy to download books using computer and transferring to SD Card(s). Thousands of free...

New Firmware is available that I needed to download. Binary file that will not extract onto the reader so I am forced to use old software. I spent a long time and my son, a professional geek could not get the software to load properly. The screen could...

Surprisingly good for PDFs

I picked up the Aluratek Libre locally on a Black Friday sale. For the price I paid it's a good little reader. I already have a Kindle 3 and it blows the Aluratek out of the water in almost every category. However the Libre has a leg up when it comes...

Lightweight. Inexpensive. Good PDF support.

Screen contrast could be better.

Great value for the price

Easy to use, great battery life. Easy to add books and remove some. Doesn't hold as many books as my Kobo. But can read Mobi/kindle format.

Doesn't hold as many books as my Kobo.

1 EGG OFF- WON'T UPDATE

Product is identical to Ectaco Jetbook. Licensed by Aluratek from Ectaco, but Aluratek developed better software for it. I may order 1 at this price as a backup for Jetbook. Don't need bells or whistles, internet, or touch screen. I'm a voracious...

Great ereader, no frills. Sale-under $50. Easy on the eyes, drop and drag books onto your micro SD card, insert and voila. I gave my sister a 2 gig micro SD card in an adaptor, already formatted with folders full of bestsellers (Contemp, Horror,...

This one won't update. I'm no novice. Have updated 5 other ereaders, various brands + complexity. This one is no go. Read mobile forums, others with same problem. Also...may have the Ectaco quirk; do NOT put parenthesis () in folder/ book title names....

Great Gift idea - Intro ereader

Size; Price; Bought this for my daughter (13) for her birthday. She is an avid reader and loves it! Hers came with 100 pre-loaded books and she is still reading just those. Bought this one rather than pricier ones since I wasn't sure how much she would...

Not the mainstream eReaders - so you need to KNOW how to get more books for it. Mainly using for library books right now.

Not a bad little reader

Make sure to do a reset after first turning it on. It seemed very sluggish and took forever to load anything on it including the books that came with it. After I reset it using the reset button everything worked flawlessly. It did hang once but nothing...

Very easy to manage e-books, accepted every book I added to it including an HTML book which it does not state it supports. I bought this for my mother who is not tech savvy at all, she picked it up right away. She does not know how to load books on it...

The display is not all that great but it works, My mom loves it.

Not as advertised

I called Aluratek as soon as I received this and they said the dark green screen was normal. Otherwise I would have returned it. Aluratek's website still advertises this model as "black and white" and paperlike. I would like to upgrade but have no idea...

Will read both .mobi and .epub, takes 32 gb card

Aluratek advertises a "black and white" screen that is "like paper." My screen is dark green with so little contrast between screen and lettering that I can only read it using a bright light source from less than 2 feet away.
