Garmin Foretrex 401

The Garmin Foretrex 401 is a bit unusual. This wrist-mounted unit isn't a full-fledged sportswatch, nor does it have the feature set found in some of the nicer handheld GPS receivers. It's probably best suited for folks wanting to minimize the weight...

Garmin Foretrex 401

The Garmin Foretrex 401 is a GPS tracker for the extreme sportster. It combines a high-sensitivity waterproof GPS receiver, electronic compass and barometric altimeter into a lightweight device. To share data easily, you can connect Foretrex to your...

Good concept, poor satellite link

I think this unit should also have a way to use the ant-pod for training, it will be also nice to be able to monitor pace on each mile / whatever pre-set distance.

Easy to set up, easy to use, easy to view, easy to review

VERY poor satellite signal time, I mean, 20 minutes to get a signal in open area!? Come on, my car GPS gets signal in less than 10 sec. My buds all have this unit and used in Iraq and other countries, they love it and told me that I got a lemon. Who knows

Very compact, decent build quality, customisable, runs off AAA's

Some small firmware issues, no NMEA (or similar) output

Good basic versatile pocket-size GPS

ed/damaged/killed about six supposedly purpose-built cycle computers. The Foretrex is easy to use, responds quickly and, in addition to providing speed, time and distance information, has the bonus of GPS functions as well as altimeter, barometer and...

Verstatile, takes AAA batteries, good battery life, easy to use, acquires satellites fast

Strap design could be imporoved and made more versatile

Good basic versatile pocket-size GPS

Well featured basic GPS. As far as I'm concerned, mapping GPS units in pocket-sized packages are a waste of time - the maps are far too small to be of any use and if you want a pocket GPS for hiking, cycling etc, this is the type of device you should...
