GPSmap 60CSx

Garmin International is part of a company that makes navigation equipment for the aviation and marine markets, as well as the consumer market. In fact, their first GPS handhelds supported Coalition forces in the Gulf War. So we think it's fair to say...

Review: Garmin GPSMap 60CSx Arrives for Review

The Garmin GPSMap 60CSx handheld GPS arrived for review here at the old GPS Lodge and we're happy to take it on a few outings to test it. The Garmin 60 CSx is the top of the line handheld GPS out of the Garmin shop, and recently won the Gear of the...

Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx Review

The Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx updated the now ancient Garmin 60CS with two important improvements. First, the 60CSx includes the SiRFSTARIII chipset, which has been getting rave reviews for its fast acquisition time and awesome coverage under canopy, in...

UPDATE: The 60CSx has been superseded by the Garmin GPSMAP 62s.

Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx

No matter where you are, you will never need to ask for directions again.

Do you like GPS navigation devices or do you still use an atlas? Despite being overshadowed by the explosive popularity of aftermarket GPS navigation products in the automotive sector, handheld units such as the the Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx are still...

Garmin GPSmap 60CSx

An overpriced upgrade

Colour screen, expandable memory, barometric altimeter, Highway mode is useful

Expensive, slow acquisition times, somewhat confusing button placement

The GPSmap 60CSx has all the hallmarks of a decent handheld GPS device. However, it still offers too little at too high a price.

Great for geocaching!

I love this GPS, and plan to use it for many years to come. Make sure you pick up a compatible 4GB or 8GB micro-SD card to go with it so you can load up all of those free maps you find.

As a relative newbie (under 2yrs) to the World of geocaching, I am glad I got this unit. I didn't buy it from here because I got it for 249 somewhere else, but I can say at that price it's definitely worth it. I use it with, and the...

The biggest con is the default map. You get a basic map that has major highways, but really not anything else. Whatever you pay for this device, figure on an extra $100 for the map of your choice. This device can do the Nuvi Lifetime maps as well, and...

GARMIN GPSMAP 60CSx 2.6" GPS Receiver

I was kind of miss leaded in this purchase, I didn't know that I have to buy the maps after paying 300 for the unit, then an other 100 just to use it.

water proof, crash proof, heavy duty for every day use

Did not know that you had to buy maps at extra cost! Be prepared to pay around 100 for maps of the USA

Pretty much none better

When coupled with City Navigator, topo, national park or other maps this unit really shines. Ive been using the mapsource software along with the national parks maps to plan/map BWCA trips for several years and for the most part it works great and have...

precise, reliable, microsd slot, long battery life (12+ hrs with low polling rate and compass disabled). good button layout. reasonably easy to use. Very powerful when used with topo, water, or citynav maps.... this aint no celphone gps... Then again...

Not cons, but stuff to be aware of ; 1.the barometric altimeter values supersede gps calculated elevation on ALL counters. Only by manually recalibrating the altimeter can you briefly see the gps elevation-- if you plan to flight track with this gps on...

Best Handheld GPS

If you get this and live in a state where the newest chips are available for routable maps and detailed contour lines, you MUST get this chip. I live in CA and I have the CA-NV chip. They're about 100.00 but make the GPS invaluable.

Very sturdy. I use it on Mt. bike rides and have is track every second. Very accurate.
