Magellan RoadMate 860T

With the introduction of the Magellan RoadMate 860T ($799 list), the new top-of-the-line model in the company's 800 Series, Magellan joins its competition in offering live, integrated traffic data that can be used for automatic rerouting around...

Excellent POI categories. Live traffic data with automatic rerouting. QuickSpell facilitates data entry. Text-to-speech conversion announces street names. Supports multisegment trip routing.

Can't play music while navigating. Awkward software application required for transferring music and picture files. Traffic data lacks list view.

The Magellan RoadMate 860T is a nice upgrade from the 760, but for the same list price, the Garmin C550, which also has text-to-speech, live traffic data, and a Bluetooth phone interface and can play music files while navigating, is a better value.

Unit performs beautifully. If I miss a turn, it automatically recalculates where I need to go to get back on route. I love the voice telling you which way to turn, what road it is, and how far til I have to turn. It mounts on the windshield

At times, it seems to take a while to find a satillite. If you are not in an area that does not support the FM tuner, such as Chicago, it does you no good. If side streets do not support doing shortest time, it does you no good. If you select shortest...
