TomTom Via 1535 review: TomTom Via 1535 - Roadshow

TomTom Via 1535

The thin-bodied ; has a more secure EasyPort connection than previous generations. Bluetooth hands-free calling and voice command enhance driver safety. Traffic data and IQ Routes technology actually helped us to avoid traffic jams.

While much easier to use than in earlier versions, TomTom's interface can still be a bit confusing to learn your way around for the first time. Traffic info doesn't cover surface and secondary roads.

The TomTom Via 1535 TM offers many features and services to increase driver safety and routing efficiency.

TomTom VIA 1535TM

With free lifetime traffic and map updates, the TomTom VIA 1535TM adopts the company's newest interface conventions, and its routing performance is as accurate as ever.

Accurate routing that improves over time. Lifetime map and traffic updates. Improved graphics and on-screen fonts. Clear voice prompts. Highly customizable. No ads.

Stubborn touch screen. Sluggish UI for entering addresses. Some POI organizational issues.

Other Features and Conclusions There's a Bluetooth hands-free mode, which is useful if your car doesn't already have one. There's also 2GB of internal flash memory for storing maps. The VIA 1535TM's Settings section is one of the largest I've seen,...

TomTom VIA 1535TM review

The TomTom VIA 1535TM is the top of the line model in TomTom's new VIA series. Sporting a wide 5” screen, the VIA 1535TM offers lifetime traffic and map updates (hence the TM in  the product name). This model updates a previous unit, the exceptionally...

Suction mount doesn't perform well with universal friction mounts ; Mount is not powered; you must connect the micro-USB cable directly to the device ; Slow to lock onto satellites ; No multi-destination routing ; Touch screen response lags a bit ;...

My biggest concern about the VIA 1535TM is the Bluetooth implementation. As far as everything else goes, most TomTom fans will be quite happy with the new VIA series. The core functionality (navigation) performed very well for me and voice command...

Most TomTom fans will be quite happy with the new VIA series. The core functionality (navigation) performed very well for me, and while the new interface is a bit rough around the edges in places, the overall experience was very good. I’m happy to...

Own 2 of these

This is the second one of these I bought. I like it better than the Garmin which I also have. I use it in the trucking business for 15 stops a day. It has everything you'll need. Foe in town use I recommend just using the non traffic cable as the...

Good Value

Has some better features than others for the same price. Easy to use and I like that it will flip the screen when you turn it over.Only bad thing is that it came with no instructions.

Very clear, easy menus. Display is big and split view is fantastic showing aerial view and ground view at same time to avoid confusing intersections. Voice control is a big plus while driving. Bluetooth easily connects to iPhone. Lifetime maps and...

Basically a good product

Until about 3 months ago, I enjoyed the reliability of the 1535 unit. Then sometime early in October, they pushed a software update and I have been frustrated ever since. The unit would not stay on or suddenly start cycling. Hopefully Tom Tom will fix...

Works pretty well, updates sometime are a pain but can be dealt with by a reset, the only real problem is volume on the bluetooth is not loud enough and it is difficult to hear when driving on a highway. There are lots of features that require user...
