Uniden TRAX 5000 GPS unit

With one of the largest screens we've seen on a GPS device, Uniden's TRAX 5000 certainly looks appealing at first glance. Also boasting advanced lane ...

5in display, aesthetically pleasing design, simple and easy to use UI, clear map screen, lane guidance, 3D terrain software

Screen can be hard to see in sunlight, keyboard can't be changed from standard ABC layout, can't adjust volume from the map display, volume could be louder, no Australian text-to-speech voice

With an extra-large display, a good user interface and some nifty mapping features, Uniden's TRAX 5000 is certainly good value for money. It has a few niggles that detract from the overall experience, though, but if you can get past these you're left...

Uniden Trax 5000

The Trax 5000 is not without its faults but its size and legibility make a compelling case.

Max inches, minimum dollars. New interface simple to use. Clean map screen. Aussie and NZ maps.

Text-to-speech mispronounces "road" as "rod". QWERTY keyboard AWOL. No audio alerts for cameras. 3D landmarks and cityscapes distracting.

The Trax 5000 is not without its faults, but its size and legibility make a compelling case.

Uniden Trax 5000 GPS

The TRAX 5000 is a very competent unit with its great display ease of operation and overall accuracy hard to resist.

Consumer review (productreview.com.au)

Worst GPS I've ever used.

Returned it to Officeworks after only 3 weeks. Firstly the stylus pen thingy (which is a gimmick only)broke almost immediately meaning it couldn't be retracted from the unit. OK, so that aside....the GPS was hopeless anywhere than the CBD. I tried to...

Everything. Poor Quality. Slow map changes and VERY inaccurate mapping.
