Gadgets for Your iPod

Detractors and owners alike have complained for years about the iPod's lack of integrated FM, especially since so many other players have the feature. The new Apple iPod Radio Remote offers a good compromise by taking a significantly different approach...

Compact. Good reception. Easy to use.

Doesn't come in black.

Apple seems unlikely to ever build an FM tuner into the iPod, so this is the next best thing.

Remote-FM tuner combo adds capabilities without adding bulk

The iPod isn't lacking for FM tuners. But Apple has unveiled one that also doubles as a wired remote control for fifth-generation iPods and nanos. The end result: a tuner that works very well while adding almost no bulk to the compactness of today's...

Very light ; very small ; good reception and sound quality ; useful clothing clip for keeping remote in place ; cord is long enough for useful routing options

No black option for black iPods ; no AM tuner ; comes apart perhaps too easily ; no fast-access method for a subset of all favorite stations

There's one other reason you might find the included earbuds useful-for sharing your iPod with someone else. One semi-hidden feature of the Radio Remote is that it allows you to plug two pairs of headphones into one iPod. With the Radio Remote...

Apple iPod Radio Remote

One of the major criticisms of Apple's popular iPod is that it doesn't offer the range of extra features that many other MP3s include as standard. Ins...

Extra pair of headphones included, Small and compact, Very easy to use, Allows dual headphone listening

Only works with nano and Video iPods, Needs a software update to work, No way to quickly find a favourite

It's not perfect, but the small, compact and easy to use iPod Radio Remote is a handy accessory. The ability to connect two headphone jacks while listening is an excellent feature as well.

Apple iPod Radio Remote

This new accessory for the fifth-generation iPod and the iPod Nano acts as both remote control and an FM radio tuner.

Good radio receiver ; Visually appealing interface ; User-friendly ; Allows you to plug in two headphones into the iPod – great for sharing

LCD screen on the remote would have been nice ; Not available in black ; Uses iPod's battery for power ; Only compatible with 5th gen iPods and Nanos

The iPod Radio Remote works well and is stylistically a great match for 5th gen iPods and Nanos. But iPod naysayers do have a point when they say AU$79 is a high price to pay for an accessory that adds functionality to the iPod that many of its...

LCD screen on the remote would have been nice ; Not available in black ; Uses iPod's battery for power ; Only compatible with 5th gen iPods and Nanos

But an added bonus, particularly for those who like to share their music, is when you're using the Radio Remote, another set of headphones can be plugged into the same iPod (as the Remote, which plugs into the bottom of the iPod, has its own headphone...

Apple iPod Radio Remote

It's a good remote, especially with the way it almost just "Comes" into the iPod like it was already there when you bought it. The reception is also brilliant, with none of those sound quality dropping in certain places. And finally, it is also handy...

Good antenna ; Fits into the iPod style easily ; Remote

"If you want an iPod with a FM radio, there is no other option is there?"

Although I suspect Apple are just trying to squeeze as much money out of us as possible, because its cheaper for US to buy an MP3 Player that has an FM radio built into it, without having to buy accessory after accessory, and after we buy all of them,...

Great Idea from Apple!

I was really looking forward to getting this and it is really good and i do reccommend it. However it would be so much better if it did all radio not just FM. Other than that its great - so get one!
