Audio-Technica ATH-A700 Headphones Review - Intro

The Audio-Technica ATH-A700 headphones are on-ears intended for use with your home sound system. The cable is long and covered with a woven-cloth casing, so it should be safe stretched across your room. There's also a 1/4-inch adapter included to...

Interesting aesthetic, seem durable ; Very, very low distortion, good maximum volume output ; Very comfortable, long cord, can disassemble ; They have much lower distortion than we typically see

Will look silly on a layperson, bulkier than average ; Average to below average performance on every other test ; Not portable, not many customization options ; You can find better headphones for less money

The Audio-Technica ATH-A700s are above average. They have great distortion and cable connectivity, and are comfortable enough for any movie marathon. Like all over-ears, they're not particularly portable, but chances are, if you're reading this, you...

Audio-Technica ATH-A700 Headphone Review

After three weeks with the ATH-A700 Closed-back Dynamic Headphones, we very much enjoyed these but we encountered a few caveats. The ATH-A700 headphones are extremely comfortable and these look beautiful. The headphones were very good in our music...

Audio-Technica ATH-A700

The Audio-Technica ATH-A700's are large, over-the-ear headphones available for $299. Their low distortion and lack of isolation makes them good for a private listening session. Their size and loose fit means they aren't ideal for walking around town....

The ATH-A700's performance was inconsistent. The frequency response was all over the map at higher frequencies, with particular de-emphasis on the drums. They lack active noise cancellation and leak a lot of noise, so if you're in a public place,...

Audio Technica ATH-A700

The A700 headphones are all about sound quality. They might not have any of the features of gaming headphones, but their amazing ability to perfectly reproduce the game's soundstage makes them best for discerning gamers.

Stunning audio quality. Very lightweight construction.

No microphone or console abilities. Quite bulky. Very expensive considering the lack of features.

The A700 headphones are all about sound quality. They might not have any of the features normally associated with a set of gaming headphones, but their amazing ability to perfectly reproduce the game's sound stage makes them best for discerning gamers.

Incredible headphones

If you are looking for small and portable, you don't want these. I was initially hesitant upon opening the box because of their sheer size. I knew I was getting big headphones, but even then these were still BIG. But despite their size, I can't...

Most comfortable things I've ever used. These have great range, and are absolutely amazing at instrumental/orchestral music

Absolutely huge. Also, bass isn't as impressive as the rest of the frequency range

Hurry!

If you are on the edge, don't be! These are incredible! HURRY! As someone who never used to just sit at his computer and listen to music, that is EXACTLY what I enjoy doing now.

AMAZING SOUND ; Perfect amount of bass (Especially for gaming) ; Extremely light weight ; Long chord ; Soft on the ears ; Easy to forget I am wearing them

HURRY ; These have been discontinued from Audio-Technica... So if you are going to get them, AND YOU SHOULD, HURRY

Consumer review (newegg.com)

They were wonderful, until I got zapped!

I would give these headphones a solid 4, even a 4.5, but I got an electric shock from them. I've owned the headphones for a year or so (I guess, I don't really remember -- but it's in that area) but yesterday when I put them on I heard a pop and felt a...

The sound was at least adequate and generally quite good. I didn't quite feel the bass the way I like, but I'm not sure any headphones can deliver that so relatively speaking they were probably quite good

After a year or so of usage in general I can say that they were comfortable enough to wear for a couple hours but eventually I would need to take them off. Also, the cord was quite heavy (as a pro: durable) and I was often fighting to get it to stay...
