Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 QuietPoint

The Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 QuietPoint headphones deliver quality audio in passive and active modes, but noise-cancellation performance is not in line with the price.

Deep bass response, with no distortion at top volumes. Lightweight, comfortable construction. Outputs audio in passive mode. Removable cables—one with inline microphone and remote.

Slightly overpriced. Noise cancellation mics sometimes allow low transient sounds into in-ear mix. Doesn't ship with a rechargeable battery.

Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Audio Technica's ATH-ANC9 Over-the-Ear Headphones don't have an overly heavy duty look to them, which makes them unassuming and clean looking. But, of course, headphones are about functionality. Read our review to see how they functioned.

The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 are great-sounding, comfortable headphones. They deliver decent performance all-around, with moderate-to-average noise isolation and little sound leakage. The button layout is unfortunately not the best, and the mostly...

Great audio reproduction. ; Comfortable.

Mostly plastic build. ; Lack of volume controls, confusing button layout

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 Review: Noise Cancelling on the Cheap

At $199, the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 headphones are comfortable to wear and great to listen to. The best feature by far is the adjustable active noise cancelling, as the modes let you maintain your peace whatever environment you're in. However, they're...

Comfortable, over-ear design for long listening sessions ; Three modes of active noise cancellation ; Balanced sonic profile

ANC circuit powered by AAA battery ; Lacks automatic-shut-off feature for ANC ; Design doesn't wow

The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 headphones offer balanced sound without any frills but with superior noise-cancelling performance.

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 Review

While these aren't Bluetooth headphones, they're still a great pair for cancelling noise and listening to music, audiobooks, videos and more on the go. The Audio Technica ATH-ANC9s are great midrange headphones that are relatively low maintenance.

These headphones weigh under 8 ounces, so they’re super light and easy to wear.

They don’t have Bluetooth, so you always need the cable to listen.

If you just need a simple pair of noise-cancelling headphones, the Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 are very straightforward and don’t require charging.

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 QuietPoint® Headphones Review

We very much enjoyed the fit and performance of the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 noise cancelling headphones. The tri-level noise cancellation made these adaptable to nearly any environment or situation in which we would want to use these in....

Review: Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 Noise-Canceling Headphone

What secret weapon did Audio-Technica pack into the ATH-ANC9 that would allow it even a chance against the QC15? Something called Tri-Noise Cancellation. It offers three modes. Mode 1 targets low frequencies; it's for use on planes, trains, and buses....

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9

These may not be a fit for audiophiles, but they would work famously on an airplane or subway.

Considering the pitfalls that commonly plague active noise cancellation headphones, these are a solid set of cans.

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 Noise-Cancelling Headphone (Playback 59)

has long admired Audio-Technica's ATH-ANC7 and ATH-ANC7b noise-cancelling ‘phones and now the ATH-ANC9 ($349.95) has raised the bar higher still, both in terms of sound quality and flexibility. Before we begin our review of the ATH-ANC9, though, let's...

Reviews: Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Placed next to ATH-ANC7b, ATH-ANC9 looks nearly identical, unless you consider the proportions of metallic and matte black plastic on their earcups to be an important differentiator. This time, Audio-Technica has gone with mostly black earcups to match...

Overall, ATH-ANC9 is another excellent headphone option from Audio-Technica: judged strictly on its own merits, it delivers very good sound and top-shelf noise-canceling for the $300 MSRP—both superior to Bose’s same-priced QuietComfort 15—but with...
