Kingston HyperX Cloud Revolver S review

Excellent sound quality ; Extremely comfortable ; No extra software needed ; Easy access controls ; Works with virtually any gaming device

Virtual surround limited to USB devices ; Mic performance is a bit flat

We’re impressed with Kingston’s latest effort. By packing features normally relegated to software into the hardware itself, and including several connection types, the Cloud Revolver S is versatile, making its superb sound quality available for just...

HyperX Cloud Revolver S review: A costly improvement to the original Cloud Revolver headset

The Cloud Revolver S brings new EQ options and better in-line controls to last year's Cloud Revolver model, but with the highest price tag we've seen to date on a HyperX headset.

Still has the Cloud line's signature audio ; New EQ settings built into the control box ; Better noise cancellation in the microphone

Metal band still reverberates when touched ; 7.1 performance isn't up to par with competitors ; Overly expensive when compared feature-to-feature with competitors

The end result: It’s hard to say whether the Cloud Revolver S is worth it. HyperX made its name off affordable peripherals, but at $150 the Revolver S is one of the most expensive wired headsets on the market. Logitech’s G633, , SteelSeries’s Arctis...

HyperX Cloud Revolver S review: HyperX Cloud Revolver S review: Gaming audio on cloud nine

HyperX's latest headset is pure comfort, offering world-first plug-and-play Dolby 7.1 audio. But the damn microphone kept getting in the way.

The Cloud Revolver S is unfairly, obscenely comfortable. It's like wearing two sound pillows on your face.

Missing the on-ear buttons of a lot of other headsets makes mid-game muting and volume tweaks a bit of a pain.

Some design choices get in the way of function, but for comfort and sound quality the Cloud Revolver S is sunshine on a rainy day.

HyperX Cloud Revolver S review: Huge sound in a comfortable package

The HyperX Cloud Revolver S gaming headphones have some fantastic sound to go along with a good design. Read more in this full review.

Big drivers and large earcups provide huge sound ; Very comfortable memory foam and leatherette earcups ; No software install necessary ; Work well for gaming and non-gaming applications ; Versatile for PC/Mac, PS4, Xbox One, even mobile

Design is nice, but not likely one you'd take out of the game room

If you’re looking for a new pair of gaming headphones that don’t slouch outside of gaming, the HyperX Cloud Revolver S should be on your list. They’re comfortable, versatile, and put out a huge sound at a good price.

Kingston HyperX Cloud Revolver S Review

Delivering an overall unimpressive performance, the Kingston Cloud Revolver S only really stood out by having a somewhat high price tag, especially...

The is a decent headset, though it is far from our favorites. We weren't really fans of the odd headband auto-adjust system and the slightly higher than expected price tag preclude it from an award.

HyperX Cloud Revolver S Review

The HyperX Cloud Revolver S is an impressive iteration on one of the better gaming headsets around. It's comfortable enough to wear for hours on end, durable enough to survive trips to tournaments, and versatile enough to be used with your PC, console...

Very comfortable ; Clear microphone ; Strong overall sound quality ; Works well with both PCs and consoles

So-so surround sound ; A bit pricey

The HyperX Cloud Revolver S is a comfortable, durable and versatile gaming headset, though its surround sound offers mixed results.

HyperX Cloud Revolver S review

All-day comfort and killer sound

Excellent all-around sound ; All-day comfort ; Refined build and design

Finicky mic positioning ; Cable may be too long

The HyperX Cloud Revolver S headset performs as admirably outside of games as it does in them. With a great build and comfort, it’s easily a headset worth having.
