JBL Synchros S700

The JBL Synchros S700 is a great-sounding headphone pair in passive mode, but not nearly as good in the powered mode it's meant to be used in.

Can be used in passive mode, without DSP engaged. Quality, clean audio when DSP is not engaged. Two detachable cables included—one for iOS devices, one for Android devices.

DSP, the reason for a higher price tag, sounds awful. Can only charge via the 3.5mm jack.

I would recommend the JBL Synchros S700 despite its DSP, since the passive mode sounds fantastic, but only if it cost about $200 instead of $350. It doesn't sound as good as a solid pair of $350 headphones. If this is your budget, there are some...

JBL Synchros S700

The JBL Synchros S700 is a great-sounding headphone pair in passive mode, but not nearly as good in the powered mode it's meant to be used in.

Regardless of whether it’s being used in passive or active mode, the S700 does not distort, even on tracks with tremendous sub-bass content, like the Knife’s “Silent Shout,” and even at maximum volume level. At reasonable listening levels, the passive...
