Sol Republic Master Tracks review

Sol Republic, the fledgling headphone company that launched in 2012, has done a great job marketing its products. In a relatively short time frame, it's managed to sell thousands of its distinct looking on-ear Tracks headphones , many of them to...

The over-the-ear Sol Republic Master Tracks have a clean, modern design, and offer a relatively comfortable fit with good sound that's punctuated by strong bass response. Also, the headband can be swapped out; the cords are detachable; and there's an...

The headphones don't fold up or fold flat. Also, they don't sound as detailed at lower volumes.

The Sol Republic Master Tracks have a distinct, eye-catching design and good performance, offering better, more refined sound than the original Tracks.

Sol Republic Master Tracks ( White)

Last year (2013), the company released its second-generation Master Tracks, a more expensive over-the-ear model ($199.99 list) that sports a new design with a more comfortable fit. It also sounds better than the original Tracks and Tracks HD, offering...

SOL Republic Master Tracks

The SOL Republic Master Tracks headphones feature a comfortable design and plenty of low-end, but highs and high-mids could be more present.

Comfortable fit. Delivers powerful audio with distortion-free deep bass. Earcups and cables are replaceable. Inline microphone and remote control for mobile devices.

Highly sculpted frequency response with boosted bass, lacks a bit in high-mids and highs. Ear pads tend to get hot.

The SOL Republic Master Tracks are a bit of a conundrum, delivering clean audio with big bass, but lacking some of the high-mid definition that really makes boosted bass exciting. The removable headband and cable, as while as inline mic and remote, add...

SOL Republic Masters the Art of Over-Ear Headphones on a Budget with Master Tracks

While we have tested our fair share of over-ear headphones, the Master Tracks doesn't try to be anything more than a good pair of headphones that is accessible to all kinds of audiences. They may not be the audiophiles headphone of choice, but for...

Lightweight, bendable, twistable, and can take abuse. Comfy ear cups and swappable headbands. Good sound reproduction that won’t cost you a fortune. Priced right. Highs and vocals are super crisp

Takes a few hours to burn in. Out of the box they sound a bit empty and hallow. Sound leaked out and ambient noise leaked in, in noisy areas

Sol Republic Master Tracks Headphones

It's unusually light, just 8.6 ounces, but the Master Tracks feels substantially built and can take rough treatment in stride. Sol Republic claims the padded FlexTech Sound Track headband can shrug off heavy abuse: Twist it, bend it, drop it, and it's...

SOL Republic Master Tracks review

Light, comfortable, with well-balanced sound. And they don't make you look like a divvy. What more do you want?

Built to last ; Lots of customisation options ; Really impressive sound

Hit-and-miss remote functions for non-Apple stuff

As chic and subtle or as loud and garish as you want, the Master Tracks are a big, exciting and well-balanced listen.
