Sony MDR-XB50BS Bluetooth sports headphone: A deal but no steal

It may not be the best-looking Bluetooth sports headphone, but the XB50BS is decent value at its relatively modest price.

The Sony MDR-XB50BS is affordably priced, sweat-resistant, sounds decent and fits well (it's easy to get a tight seal). Battery life is good at 8.5 hours and the headphone has strong bass performance.

Not the greatest-looking wireless sports headphone; performed only OK as a headset; no protective case.

It's got some small downsides, but the reasonably priced Sony MDR-XB50BS is a step up in sound from a lot of inexpensive wireless sports headphones.

Sony wants these headphones to be your go-to pair if you're heading to the gym. The Bluetooth connection means no dragging cables, but will the chunky ear pieces stay put on your morning run and is the sound up to scratch? We put them to the test to...

GGreat sound. Great look. But quiet mic.

The bass is great! They fit me so well and I usually have trouble with in ear headphones. This is great design. The look is fantastic. I love how it's just the ear pieces and no bulky neck piece. The microphone doesn't seem to hear me well when I talk...

Excellent sound quality, decent battery life.

No track skip function, struggle to find a comfortable fit.

Blown Away!

Absolutely brilliant sound quality, blown away for the price. Excellent fit, and never come loose. I was worried about them being a bit bulky, however once fitted they don't seem bulky at all. No heavy battery or receiver sitting on/ or around the neck...

SONY MDR-XB50BS Wireless Bluetooth Headphones - Black

Great sound quality and the volume is just enough (above what you get with plug in headsets you get with a phone, so might upset the regulators......) They fit comfortably in my ears and hardly notice they are there.
