Sony MDR-XB950BT: A Bluetooth headphone for bass lovers

The MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headset is a $199.99/AU$249.95 wireless headphone that -- you guessed it -- serves up a generous helping of bass.

Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headset Review

With great audio detail, strong Bluetooth performance and easy-to-reach controls, Sony's Extra Bass Boost headphones — and their $200 price tag — have plenty of appeal. Unfortunately, these bulky cans lack style, long-term comfort and solid mic isolation.

Supple ear cups ; Excellent detail ; Easy-to-reach controls ; Bass Boost makes hip-hop and techno a pleasure

Bass Boost distorts nearly all other genres of music ; Uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time ; Mic picks up outside noise more than wearer's voice ; Pretty ugly

The Sony MDR-XB950BT has impressive audio quality, but it's brought down by outdated style and overpowering optional bass.

Sony MDR-XB950BT review

  (Rating Hidden)

The Sony MDR-XB950BT headphones are all about maximum bass. They're pretty powerful, and feature electronic bass booster technology to try to emulate the sound of a large sound system. But what are they actually like to listen to, and can they harness...

Sony MDR XB950BT Review

Bass heavy, but not muddy Excellent battery life Reasonably durable build

Bass boost drowns out other frequencies The headphones look cheap and plasticky

The Sony MDR XB950BT is one of the better headsets in the XB family - it is clearer than many of its siblings, but it can still turn up the bass with the press of a button if that's what you want. At Rs. 12,990, it's an expensive set if you're not an...

Nice Bass

I love these headphones as they are wireless and you can also put the wire in them in case the battery runs out. I'm very impressed with the noise cancellation so people can't really hear it.

Finally, quality Bluetooth headphones.

I purchased these about 2 weeks ago. I already have pop in your ear generic (keep falling out) & lightweight wired on ear plus two other sets of Bluetooth headphones but they have disappointed me, time to move up to a quality pair. I have other Sony...

Comfortable, Carefree Listening

Found that it did what it said on the box. Easy to set up and use. Quality of sound was very good. Able to set up on my Xperiaphone, iPad and Sony 4KTV very easily.

Awesome sound.

Bought 3 weeks ago because my beats were faulty. The sound of these make my beats sound tinny. The bass is great. Features very useful, especially track fwd/bkw . So go leased with this product
