Sony Xperia Ear Duo XEA20 review: Hear your content and your surroundings

For me, headphones mean keeping the outside world out. But sometimes you need to let some of it in and that's what the Xperia Ear Duo XEA20 headphones do.

Nicely done app with lots of features ; Decent sound ; Great for hearing everything around you and your music ; Good BT reception ; Nice carrying case with USB-C ; Decent battery life

Design is bulky ; It takes some work to get them on ; They are very pricey

Overall, the Sony Xperia Ear Duo XEA20 headphones are well built, have good sound (for what they are intended), have decent battery life but are priced pretty high. I’d recommend these for those really seeking that situational awareness. These are not...

Sony Xperia Ear Duo: A concept not yet complete Review | ZDNet

Sony's idea of a Bluetooth headset that allows the outside world in is good in theory, but falls over in practice.

Microphones are good for a Bluetooth headset ; Charging case has enough reserve for three charges ; It's different, it's a new idea, and at least Sony is trying new things

Very expensive ; Needs a higher maximum volume ; Features like head gestures and multiple tap on touchpads should never have made it out of QA

Sony Xperia Ear Duo true wireless earphones review

With the Xperia Ear Duo, Sony pursued style over substance. The result of the chase? Disappointment.

Rock solid build quality ; Allows for exception situational awareness ; USB-C charging

Frequent connectivity issues ; gesture controls frustrating to use ; Design makes finding physical controls difficult ; Lackluster sound quality ; Expensive given their numerous flaws

Sony's Xperia Ear Duo Lets the Outside World In

Sony's new Bluetooth earbuds are pretty much the exact opposite of noise-canceling headphones, and they arrive in May.

Sony Almost Made the Perfect Commuter Earbuds

There are two ways of listening to music: you can shut everything out and focus purely on the tunes, or you can use music to enhance other activities in your life. Headphones and earbuds, especially those of the noise-canceling variety are quite good...

Sony Xperia Ear Duo: The unusual AirPod alternative

More and more smartphones come without a 3.5 mm headphone jack and manufacturers of audio accessories have adapted to this. Sony's Xperia Ear Duo is a completely wireless headset with a unique design that is practical and safe for everyday use.

Comfortable to wear ; Perceptible ambient noise

Strange design ; Cumbersome setup ; No bass ; Slow touch operation ; Not usable for videos

The Sony Xperia Ear Duo headphones are unusual, in terms of its design, style and in the way the music reaches your ears. Sony’s approach is great for continuous use or for road safety. The open design means that you can always hear ambient noise and...

Sony Xperia Ear Duo

Sony Xperia Ear Duo review: Good for ambient audio – but niggles remains over fit and gesture control.

Hear external noise clearly ; Excellent battery charging case ; Decent sound quality ; Voice control and assistant support

Odd design ; Awkward fit ; Assistant and gestures features are hit and miss

Good for ambient audio – but niggles remains over fit and gesture control.

Sony Xperia Ear Duo review

Perhaps the strangest headset we've ever tested

Innovative concept ; Can hear the world around you ; Strong battery life with charging case

Strange design ; Limited use cases ; Expensive considering competition

Sony's Xperia Ear Duo is one of the strangest audio products we've ever tested. More hearable than headphones, the Xperia Ear Duo is an odd device built for a particular person. The design is strange, but the smart features will suit some distinct people.
