Velodyne vPulse In-Ear Headphones

Velodyne's vPulse In-Ear Headphones provide clear audio performance and some added bass at a reasonable price.

Solid overall audio performance, with rich bass and clear highs. Plenty of extra eartips. Built-in controls and microphone for iPhone and other mobile devices.

Distort slightly at high volumes. Bass emphasis isn't for audio purists. Cable can feel heavy without shirt-clip.

Velodyne vPulse review:

Velodyne has made subwoofers for a long time -- and very good ones at that -- but has only more recently got into the headphones game with vPulse, a stylish $99 earphone that comes in black or electric blue and is equipped with an Apple-friendly inline...

The Velodyne vPulse in-ear headphones offer very good sound, highlighted by impressive bass response. They also have a distinct design and have an inline microphone/remote for Apple iOS product users.

The earphones aren't supercomfortable and may not fit everyone equally well; the inline remote will not function with most non-Apple smartphones.

While some folks may encounter come comfort issues, the Velodyne vPulse in-ear headphones offer excellent sound for the money and will particularly appeal to bass lovers.

Velodyne vPulse In-Ear Headphones

The vPulse is the first headphone offering from subwoofer specialist Velodyne, and as you'd expect, it offers big bass. But as with its subwoofer siblings, the vPulse's bass is high quality and doesn't get in the way of the rest of the music. Combine...

But alongside this series of nondescript black cubes, the Velodyne home page shows something very different these days: headphones. More specifically, the company’s $99 vPulse In-Ear Headphones.

Velodyne vPulse Headphones Review

These sound like $10 (not 99¢) headphones with million-dollar bass, so your choice is clear: If you're a bass player, organist, or bass pedal fanatic, get these yesterday. If you just want to listen to pretty music and don't care about the bass, I...

Unbelievably rich bass and good build quality

Deep, skull-throbbing bass No-tangle durable cord Earbuds fit securely Good-looking, strong aluminum housing

Sometimes struggles with loud, high-pitched sounds (come out as white noise)

Consumer review (bestbuy.com)

Overhyped earbuds

Excellent packaging, subpar buds. Extremely uncomfortable to the point of being painful. Bass is more than other buds, but that's not saying much. Sounds more like punchy muted music rather than the deep full sound that it's advertised as. Spend money...
