Velodyne vTrue

The Velodyne vTrue is a powerful, bass-boosted headphone pair that is visually striking and quite expensive.

Powerful audio performance with very deep bass. Doesn't distort at top volumes. Ships with two removable audio cables, one with in-line remote and microphone for mobile devices. Striking design.

Bulky headphones can feel heavy over long listening sessions. Heavily exaggerated bass not for audiophiles. Too leaky for studio use. Quite expensive.

In other words, these headphones don't offer a flat response in any sense—there's tons of bass, and lots of liberties are taken with the high-mids and highs, as well. The result is something bass lovers will enjoy and purists will probably want to...

Velodyne vTrue headphones review

Recently, I reviewed Velodyne's fun vPulse earphones. They stood out for their accurate bass – and why not? Velodyne became famous for subwoofers, so if they can't get the bass right, who can? When I had to chance to review Velodyne's full-sized vTrue...

Very comfortable ; Bass is tight, controlled, yet still powerful ; Stunning good looks ; Upscale

Expensive ; Despite their large size, may not fit larger heads ; No case

Velodyne vTrue Studio Headphones

Following hot on the heels of the vPulse earphones that impressed us last year, the vTrue Studio headphones from the subwoofer experts at Velodyne promise accurate, low-distortion audio in a forged aluminum shell. These unique-looking cans will turn...

Good build quality; detachable cables; bass-heavy but very capable sound

Enhanced-bass tuning may not be ideal for studio use

The vTrue does seem to have a bit of an identity crisis – it’s billed as a studio headphone but includes short cables and a mic/remote – features useless in a studio setting - as well as sound that is not as flat as one may expect from a true reference...

Velodyne vTrue Studio

Hands-on: High-end headphones from a maker of subwoofers. Beautiful bass?

Do these unusual-looking headphones stir your fancy, or is the mix of class and extravanace a bit off the mark? Let us know what you think in the comments.
