Samsung HT-C6500 review: Samsung HT-C6500

Samsung HT-C6500

A 5.1 home theater system with built-in Blu-ray player; two HDMI inputs; outstanding sound quality for a home-theater-in-a-box system at this price range; Netflix, Vudu, YouTube, and Pandora streaming; built-in Wi-Fi; plays music, videos, and pictures...

No wireless rear speakers; requires a dongle for iPod connectivity, rather than a sleeker built-in design; buttons on top of the player are inconvenient; last year's Samsung Blu-ray players had reliability issues.

The Samsung HT-C6500 packs outstanding sound quality, Blu-ray playback, and tons of features into an excellent home theater system, with only some design quirks holding it back.

Best home theater system with Blu-ray

The 5.1-channel Samsung HT-C6500 is one of the better performers, and one of the better values, among all-in-one home-theater systems. It is built around a combination Blu-ray Disc player/amplifier that's widely praised. Experts say that...

Value, sound, picture quality, lots of features

Past Samsung players suffered from usability problems, some reports of lip-sync issues

Samsung HT-C6500 Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theater System (HTiB)Review

A few minor caveats aside, the HT-C6500 is an impressive package and an incredible value.

The HT-C6500 price on Amazon is sometimes below Samsung's MAP (Minimum Advertised Price). If you do not see a visible price on the page, put the item in your cart and continue through the checkout process to view the current price.

Samsung HT-C6500 review

Samsung squeezes so much into the well-priced HT-C6500 Blu-ray package

Comprehensive specification ; iPod dock ; built-in wireless ; solid, full-bodied sound

Not the most detailed or dynamic presentation ; images could be a touch clearer

Packed with features, but the Samsung isn’t quite the complete performance package

Samsung HT-C6500 Blu-ray home cinema system

Look up the word generous in the dictionary and you'll find a little picture of Samsung's latest Blu-ray home cinema system, the HT-C6500. It's no exaggeration to say that it's one of the most feature-packed one-box systems we've ever come across, with...

Built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi, media streaming and a jaw-dropping amount of other features, looks, easy installation, decent level of performance

Subwoofer, slightly plasticy speakers

On the whole, the system falls some way short of the insight, integration and flat out punch of a decent separates system, but by one-box standards it’s a good effort.

Samsung HT-C6500 review

As much we liked last year's slew of Blu-ray home-theater-in-a-box (HTIB) systems , they still involved some features compromises, such as missing built-in Wi-Fi and HDMI connectivity. This year, Blu-ray HTIBs are filling in a lot of those holes and...

Samsung HT-C6500 Review

Many small and big Blu-ray players have cropped up in the market these days however only a few of them might be able to match the performance and features of the Samsung HT-C6500.

Samsung HT-C6500

It's all made possible by the inclusion of built-in Wi-Fi. The system's support for 802.11b/g/n allows you to stream DivX HD, MKV, AVI, MPEG-4, WMV, MP3, WMA, JPEG and AVCHD wirelessly from PCs on your home network, as well as download BD Live content...

Looks; features; onscreen menus; fast disc loading

BSome sound issues

Great HTIB!

I did a lot of research on HTIB units before deciding on this one. The ultimate factors that led to the decision to buy this particular one were the dual HDMI inputs, integrated WiFi and Allshare capabilities. Originally I was going to route...

2 HDMI inputs ; DNLA (Allshare) works well, connected to my wireless network and saw my DNLA Server (tvMobili for Linux), able to stream all my videos, music and photos no problem ; Built-in wireless - this thing has wireless built-in, not a dongle...

No aux video input (only HDMI), this means you'll have to route the video from your Wii directly to your TV...not a big deal. Most other devices have HDMI
