Apple's new keyboard rescues the number pad, wins nerds' hearts

Apple adds a full number pad to its iconic wireless keyboard. Spreadsheet dorks go wild.

The Apple Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad has light, bouncy keys that are great to type with. The new number pad makes it easier to input figures or work with some creative software shortcuts. It pairs easily and lasts a long time between charges.

The flat design can put strain on your wrist. The lack of backlight makes it harder to work with the keys at night.

Apple's slim, light, wireless Magic Keyboard gets a makeover, bringing back the number pad previously found in the old wired version. But it also costs more, so the standard Magic Keyboard may be better for you.

Apple Magic Keyboard

The Apple Magic Keyboard offers a lot of improvements over its predecessor, including a rechargeable battery, instant pairing, and a slimmer frame. But a much shallower keystroke can be uncomfortable if you're a heavy-handed typist.

Extremely compact. Rechargeable battery. Automatically pairs with your Mac via Bluetooth, using the included Lightning cable. Works wired or wirelessly. Quiet keys.

Requires OS X El Capitan or later. No tilt mechanism. Shallow keystrokes.

Conclusion On the whole, we'd recommend that you try out the Apple Magic Keyboard at your local Apple Store or Best Buy before you decide on a purchase. It's really a case of love it or hate it. If you like flat, quiet keyboards with short key travel,...

Apple Magic Keyboard review: Should have called it basic

Apple's keyboard isn't magic. It's not writing this review for me while I sip a margarita and play Two Dots, and I feel like that would be magic. What the Magic Keyboard is, is a pretty nice Bluetooth keyboard that charges with a Lightning cable....

Charges with Lightning instead of using AA batteries ; Includes a Lightning cable

Fewer features than third-party keyboards at the same price point

If you want to use one keyboard with multiple devices, the Magic Keyboard should do the trick, but I had issues switching the pairing back and forth, while the Logitech Bluetooth Easy-Switch Keyboard more than lived up to its name.

Apple Magic Keyboard review

Apple has recently announced three new peripherals for Mac users; the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad. Is the new Magic Keyboard worth the upgrade? In our review, we take a look at the new Apple Magic Keyboard, its design, functionality...

Lightweight and compact ; Redesigned scissor mechanism provides a nice typing experience ; built-in re-chargable battery

Too expensive ; No backlit keys ; Other keyboards at same price offer more value for money

Overall, we have mixed feelings about Apple’s Magic Keyboard. Yes, it looks gorgeous, is sleek and provides a nice typing experience, but we can’t ignore the fact that it doesn’t have features that others in its price range do – backlit keys, for...

Way Better than the 1st gen

My Apple Keyboard that came with my Imac after 5 years finally quit. Ended up picking the new Magic Keyboard instead. Love the way it feels and really appreciate not needing batteries. Just plug it in and let it charge up!!

Awesome Feel

The new apple wireless keyboard is small... even thinner than the previous version. Yet feels more solid. The keys are amazing to type on, and it's rechargeable.
