Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 8000

The Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 8000 is a well-designed, albeit expensive, option for couch-bound computing.

Good design and key arrangement. Both keyboard and mouse use AAA rechargeable batteries with a docking station. Lots of media-centric keys. Good feel to the keys. Moderately ergonomic.

Charging station takes up a lot of desk or shelf space. Expensive.

Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 (Silver) review: Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 (Silver)

Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 (Silver)

Rechargeable; easy-to-use and comprehensive media control keys; smart backlighting design.

Expensive; clunky recharging station.

Microsoft's Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 brings a lot of features and functions. Its wireless, backlit keyboard is also rechargeable, but we wish it were better designed and about $50 less expensive. We suspect many people will be impressed at...

Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000

Microsoft's Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 8000 ($299.95 list) is all play and no work. For that chunk of change, you're not likely to buy it for your desktop, though. This keyboard and mouse set is meant to be used while you're sitting on your couch...

Charging station takes up a lot of desk or shelf space. Expensive

The Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 8000 is a good-looking but expensive option for your living-room computing. If you can stomach the price, we recommend it for couch-bound use, though it won't be a good fit for your desktop.

Review: Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000

When we first heard about Microsoft's Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000, it was clear we were in for something big. Not only would this mouse/keyboard combination capitalize on the design of the WED 7000 but it would feature a $300 price tag, making...

Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000

The long anticipated Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 is here, but does it impress? The entire package does a fine job of looking good while offering solid functionality, but we found it lacks greatly in a few key areas. The most notable being the...

Innovative design ; Backlit keyboard; the fade in effect when it detects someone is really nice ; Bluetooth connectivity is solid ; Charging station charges both peripherals at the same time ; The keyboard is a breeze to use on the couch

Most of the setup is made out of plastic ; Slight high-pitched humming emits from the charging station while it's being used ; Touch sensitive buttons on the top could have better implementation ; 300 MSRP? Really

The Desktop 8000 provides an interesting look at what can be done with a simple keyboard. You can use this one device to do so many activities, from typing a document to controlling media. Other keyboards can provide the same functions, but the 8000 is...

Microsoft Wireless Entertainment 8000 Desktop review

As thin as a wafer and as clever as a convention of cosmologists, this might just be the ultimate computer keyboard

An awesome keyboard and an almost awesome mouse, but it isn’t enough to justify the price
