Review: Razer Pro Type Keyboard

What do fireplaces, beds, and toilet paper holders have in common? Yep, all of these products are available with built-in iPod docks. Clearly, all are...

Shiny white coat lends polished look. Shorter key height makes speed typing effortless. Includes adapter for syncing both fifth and fourth generation iPods. Software works on PCs and Macs. Easily switches between 10 profiles for different programs....

Mac software offers fewer macro customization options (can’t specify order of key presses or add delays.) Far too pricey for just a keyboard with an iPod dock. White exterior quickly shows grime, lint

Razer ProType Keyboard

We wish Razer had considered the value proposition a bit more with its ProType keyboard, but if you think minimized cable clutter is worth an extra $30 and the loss of some configurability, you'll find yourself with an attractive keyboard that's a...

Near-perfect typing response; integrated iPod dock; configurable macro keys; well-placed media and image control keys.

Less customization and higher price than Razer's gaming keyboard of similar design.

We wish Razer had considered the value proposition a bit more with its iPod dock-equipped ProType keyboard, but if you think minimized cable clutter is worth an extra $30 and the loss of some configurability, you'll find yourself with an attractive...

Review: Razer ProType keyboard

Razer's ProType is a unique keyboard that offers many specialized and programmable keys, as well as an integrated iPod dock. However, its size and system requirements may turn off some potential buyers.

Lots of media, application, and programmable keys; built-in iPod dock for syncing, charging, and playback; good keyboard layout; support for keyboard profiles

Huge; iPod dock not usable with many desk keyboard drawers; requires two USB ports; keys feel slightly mushy; modifier keys use Windows labels instead of Mac ones

At 20.2 inches wide by 8.7 inches deep, the ProType is perhaps the largest keyboard I’ve seen—so large that on at least one of the keyboard drawers I tested it with, the ProType didn’t leave enough room on either side for sufficient mousing space. The...

Razer Pro|Type Keyboard

Professional is something that we all seek to be in our jobs. Being professional not only entails how you act, but also how you look. If you're sitting at your desk with a potential customer sitting across from you and you're typing on a stained...

iPod Docking Station ; Feel of Keys ; USB 2.0 Ports on the Keyboard ; Size ; Looks ; Customizability ; Media Player and Image Editing Buttons

Media Player and Image Editing Buttons aren't universal ; Limited Applications Supported ; Only comes in white

This keyboard definitely deserves the name “Professional” for how it looks and behaves. The keys do not require much force to push and your fingers slide gracefully over the keyboard when you are typing. The customizable buttons on the left and right...

Razer Pro|Type Keyboard

Can Razer hit the mark with a non-gaming peripheral?

As a result of the dock the keyboard has two USB plugs, one for the keyboard and one for the dock which will also charge an iPod when plugged into it. Razer has also added a line-out onto the keyboard, which provides superior audio quality to a...
