Acer Spin 3 (With Amazon Alexa)

Now armed with Alexa, Acer's Spin 3 convertible is a reasonable value, but its bulky bezels, lack of USB Type-C, and middling typing experience make it a merely average 2-in-1, the Amazon angle aside.

Alexa integration. Punchy performance for the price. Elegant, 360-degree-rotating 1080p touch display.

Thick bezels. No USB Type-C ports. Poor webcam quality. Shallow, non-backlit keyboard. No support for Wake on Voice (WoV). Hefty for a 2-in-1.

Bottom Line: Now armed with Alexa, Acer's Spin 3 convertible is a reasonable value, but its bulky bezels, lack of USB Type-C, and middling typing experience make it a merely average 2-in-1, the Amazon angle aside.

Acer Spin 3 (SP314-51-38XK)

The Acer Spin 3 is a 14-inch convertible laptop that hits the $500 price point, but for performance's sake we'd spend an extra $100 to upgrade the memory and storage.

Handsome touch screen. Nice sound. Good battery life.

Sluggish hard drive instead of SSD. No USB-C port.

Bottom Line: The Acer Spin 3 is a 14-inch convertible laptop that hits the $500 price point, but for performance's sake we'd spend an extra $100 to upgrade the memory and storage.

Acer Spin 3 (SP315-51-79NT)

The Acer Spin 3's price and large screen are tempting, but in a very crowded field of convertible 2-in-1s it lacks some key features.

Low price. Full HD touch screen. 1TB storage.

Awkward in Tablet mode. No USB-C. Lacks SSD.

Bottom Line: The Acer Spin 3's price and large screen are tempting, but in a very crowded field of convertible 2-in-1s it lacks some key features.

Acer Spin 3 (Core i5 - 2018)

Long battery life; Good performance; Decent speakers; Stays cool ; Dull display; Plastic build; Tons of bloatware ; Finally, an affordable 14-inch 2-in-1 that's worth buying.

Acer Spin 3 review: A decent laptop hybrid with a nice screen

The Acer Spin 3 joins a lineup of other laptops on the market trying to take full advantage of Windows 10's touch interface, read the full review inside!

The Acer Spin 3 is heavy but has a robust build. Viewing angles and glare need improving, and the amount of bloatware preinstalled is off the charts. This is a good laptop for the average user but power users and the tech minded crowd may want to look...

Acer Spin 3 Review and Ratings

Acer's 15.6-inch convertible offers numerous nice features for a low price, but its lack of an SSD makes it a poky performer.

Four-way flexibility ; Attractive screen and keyboard ; Above-average bang for the buck

Bulky and heavy as a tablet ; All-day disk reads ; No USB-C port

After fully recharging the laptop, we set up the machine in power-save mode (as opposed to balanced or high-performance mode) and make a few other battery-conserving tweaks in preparation for our unplugged video rundown test. In this test, we loop a...

Acer Spin 3 review

Inexpensive only gets you so much

Affordable ; Responsive touchscreen ; Healthy offering of ports

Touchpad is lacking ; It’s a bit bulky ; Middling performance for price

The Acer Spin 3 is affordable and can get the job done, but only if you have a few minutes to spare. Middling performance and subpar trackpad hardware mar an otherwise decent general use, 2-in-1 laptop.

Acer Spin 3 SP315-51 laptop review: Disappointing performance makes this a tough sell

For a laptop experience to qualify as tolerable, it must offer a good display and adequate performance for the tasks at hand.

The Acer Spin 3 falls short on two very important areas, display and performance. Both are an easy fix and it’s a wonder that Acer is even offering the device in this configuration. Offering only 4 GB of RAM in any laptop that isn’t the most barebones...

Acer Spin 3 (2018) review: In a sea of $500 convertibles, the Spin 3 comes up short

With so many solid $500 convertibles available, the Acer Spin 3 comes up short in battery life and performance.

A solid set of components, including a 1TB hard drive. The decent complement of ports and connections. The crisp 14-inch display is a pleasure to use in laptop and tablet mode.

Flimsy design. Subpar performance and battery life. Keyboard and touchpad aren’t great.

In the ultracompetitive market of midrange convertibles, the Acer Spin 3 fails to stand out.
