Apple MacBook Air review (2018): A good buy and a tough call

The new Air is precisely the upgrade many users have been holding out for, with a slimmed-down body, sharper Retina display, long battery life and a useful Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Though it's more than fast enough for common use cases, some might...

Lighter Slimmed-down design Sharp Retina display Long battery life Spacious and reliable trackpad It has Touch ID

Underpowered compared to a similarly priced MacBook Pro No option to upgrade the processor No more SD slot Screen is dimmer than the Pro's

Apple MacBook Air (2019) review: the new normal

Can it live up to the classic?

Touch ID for login ; True Tone display looks great ; Thin, classic design

Processor can sometimes struggle ; USB-C ecosystem still a hassle ; Can you really trust this keyboard?

After all, for $200 more, you could get a MacBook Pro.

Apple MacBook Air (2019) - Full Review and Benchmarks

Crisp, high-res screen ; Strong sound ; No bloatware ; Elegant in gold

Underwhelming performance ; Only packs USB-C ports ; Shallow keyboard

The 2019 MacBook Air is a sleek laptop with good endurance, but it could use more speed.

Which MacBook is right for you? Here’s how the 2019 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro compare

After launching updated MacBook Air and MacBook Pro notebooks yesterday, Apple also pared down its lineup by discontinuing the 12-inch MacBook and previous-generation MacBook Air. Whether you're looking to pick up a new Mac for school, work, or general...

Apple MacBook Air (2019) review: more affordable, just as good

Apple's thin and light laptop refresh improves the screen and price, and that'll work for us

Sharp, True Tone Retina display ; Excellent battery life ; Very snappy to use

Just 128GB of storage, and upgrades are expensive ; Uncertain keyboard woes ; Dual-core power may limit some

Apple MacBook Air (2018) review

While the new MacBook Air isn't radically different from the original – arguably the first Ultrabook – there are enough updates to keep its lofty spot in our best Macs list. In fact, it may just be the best option for anyone looking to grab a MacBook...

Small, lighter design Beautiful Retina display Good value for a MacBook

Sometimes feels underpowered Only two Thunderbolt 3 ports

Apple MacBook Air users won’t be disappointed that this update is thinner and lighter than ever before. However, it’s only slightly faster, and definitely more expensive. If you’ve not been convinced by the MacBook Air before, the cosmetic enhancements...

Apple MacBook Air (2019) review: The MacBook is dead, long live the Air

Apple quietly discontinued the 12-inch MacBook in 2019, meaning the current 13-inch MacBook Air is the smallest and, um, 'most affordable' Mac laptop.

New keyboard material (which you can't see) vastly improves typing issues of predecessor ; Price drop over 2018 model ; Large trackpad with Force Touch control ; Touch ID login via fingerprint is great ; Solid battery life

The keyboard is still rather loud when typing ; Only Thunderbolt 3 (2x USB-C) ports and no SD card slot ; No Face ID login ; Some Windows competition offer smaller bezel designs

What might look like an almost non-upgrade of its 2018 predecessor is quite a lot more: the 2019 Air has graduated and waved goodbye to its younger MacBook brother, fixed up its keyboard wrongs in the process of growing up, and becomes an altogether...

Apple MacBook Air (2019)

The MacBook Air 2019 was a reasonable laptop choice for a while, but in 2020 is no cheaper and has been eclipsed by a new 2020 model, complete with Magic Keyboard

Apple's 2019 MacBook Air is cheaper than before, but no game changer

If you're looking for the least expensive MacBook and don't need the performance of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, the 2019 MacBook Air is a competent laptop for light computing like writing, web browsing, and watching videos. Just don't expect it to be a...

Retina display now supports True Tone • Quieter keyboard • Touch ID sensor • More affordable than before

Slower SSD versus 2018 model • Marginally faster performance • Good • but not stellar battery life

The MacBook Air (2019) improves on the previous version in very minor ways. Unless you need the horsepower (then get a MacBook Pro), the MacBook Air does the job. It's not knock-your-socks off incredible like the pre-Retina MacBook Air was, but it's fine.

APPLE 13.3" MacBook Air with Retina Display (2019) - Intel® Core™ i5, 512 GB SSD, Gold

Looks great and is clearly designed well. Lightweight and portable. You know you're getting good quality with apple products!

I'm not a fan of the keyboard but that's because I'm a touch typer and often have long nails. The flat design of the keyboard affects my accuracy.
