Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch M1 review: The iPhone of laptops

The new MacBook Pro 13-inch features Apple's new M1 chip, making these laptops more like iPhones than traditional laptops.

M1 is insanely fast ; Beautiful display, as always ; Fantastic battery life ; Speakers sound brilliant ; Top-notch keyboard and trackpad

Only two Thunderbolt ports ; Touch Bar is still frustrating

MacBook Pro M1 review: Apple amazes with its first Silicon MacBook Pro Review | ZDNet

If you're looking for a fresh design, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for killer performance, long battery life and broad app support, you'll be hard-pressed to find fault with Apple's inaugural M1-based MacBook Pro.

Fast and powerful ; Long battery life ; All around app support ; Improve camera, despite still 720p

Some iPad apps need an update ; Same design will be tired for some ; Can get pricey with upgrade options ; Caps out at 16GB

MacBook Pro 13-inch M1 review

Apple's new MacBook Pro 13-inch M1 has the same beautiful design but a formidable new ‘unified' M1 processor

Surprisingly useful Touch Bar ; Excellent Retina display ; Weight, size, design, keyboard…

16:10 screen, which annoys us for some reason ; No HDMI port or memory card slot

The MacBook Pro 13-inch M1 is not cheap for a laptop, obviously, but if you need a certain level of performance for your photo or video editing, then a cheap laptop is never going to provide it. In fact, this M1-powered MacBook gives you a very good...

MacBook Pro with M1 review: Peak MacBook

The MacBook Pro with M1 delivers a killer combo of blazing performance and epic battery life, even if the design is too familiar.

Superb performance ; Crazy long battery life ; Bright and colorful display ; Comfortable Magic Keyboard

Dated design ; Just two Thunderbolt ports

Overall, I really like the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1 and it’s an excellent choice for power users. But I think for the vast majority of people the new Air is “Pro” enough.

MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) review

The new MacBook Pro 13-inch is powered by Apple's very own M1 chip, and it's an excellent choice for designers and video editors.

Great performance ; Excellent battery life ; Screen remains very good ; Almost silent

Lack of ports ; Not the highest resolution ; No new design

The MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) is the first of Apple’s professional laptops to come with the new M1 chip, rather than Intel hardware, and it’s very impressive indeed.

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (2020) review

The new MacBook Pro 13-inch delivers a great Magic Keyboard, blazing performance and long battery life — if you're willing to pay a premium.

based on Apple Silicon, but there's no firm timetable. Bottom line: If you want a more powerful portable for work and play — which includes photo and video editing — the 13-inch MacBook Pro is a great choice.

Apple MacBook Pro 13in with M1 (2020) review

We go Mac to the future with the M1 chip – but not this notebook's design

Speedy and responsive ; Display remains first-class ; Battery lasts for ages ; Mostly whisper quiet

Design starting to age ; Limited connectivity ; Webcam isn’t that great ; Dare we say it: no touchscreen

We’d love two more Thunderbolt ports and a redesign, but colour us surprised the entry level MacBook Pro has this much to offer.

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1 processor) review: The start of something new

We've been using the new MacBook Pro with M1 processor to find out how it performs. Are there any problems? Is the battery that much better?

Fast and powerful - and paves the way for Apple silicon future ; No obvious issues with multi-tiered app operation - it just works ; Super battery life ; Great screen

Design hasn't changed - and looks a little tired ; No new features beyond the new processor ; Only up to 16GB of RAM ; Touch Bar still not a must-have ; Just the two ports

This feels like the start of something impressive thanks to new Apple silicon in the M1 processor - which results in lots of power and impressive battery life. It will be fascinating to see not only where Apple goes next, but how the industry responds.
